Designed over 3 years between Benson Amps and Jessica Dobson (Deep Sea Diver), the Fuzz-Echo is designed to replicate Jessica’s signature echo-ladened fuzz tones in one versatile box. Built around an analogue silicon transistor fuzz with simple Bias and Gate controls in conjunction with a specially tuned echo effect, the Fuzz-Echo covers everything from atmospheric and textured fuzz to gated echoey madness and even thick and aggressive, treble-boosted lead tones.

Key Features

  • Three-Transistor Fuzz – Starting with the foundations laid by the classic silicon-based three-transistor mk1.5/mk2 TB circuit, the Deep Sea Driver Fuzz-Echo features a heavily modified and tweaked circuit for a large variety of vintage-inspired fuzz!
  • PT2399 Echo – Although technically digital, the PT2399 has gained a reputation, especially from boutique builders, for its analogue-like tone and feel. A firm favourite of Benson, this coveted chip has been specially tuned to work with fuzz.
  • Self-Oscillation– Hold down the footswitch to send the Fuzz-Echo into self-oscillation and sustained feedback.
  • Versatile Design – For even greater versatility, Benson has designed the Fuzz-Echo to work anywhere in the signal chain and by holding the footswitch while you power on, the order of the fuzz and echo can be easily swapped around.

In Jessica’s Words –

“When Benson first asked me what I wanted out of a pedal, I asked if he could smash together my favorite fuzz tones and vintage echos. One of my favorite pedal configurations has always been running my echos & delays before my dirt pedals to get unorthodox sounds. So, we started there and it morphed into a pedal than became bigger and wider than what we initially had imagined.”

“To call this simply a ‘gated fuzz pedal with an echo feature’ would be an injustice to its essence! Beyond the splatty gated sounds, I wanted a fuzz that could get wooly and straight forward, or shake hands with my favorite gauzy My Bloody Valentine textures. I wanted it to clean up nice and work as a treble booster for my guitar solos, or sound like a foreign landscape of oscillation and interrupting textures. Simply put, it has become the most interesting and versatile pedal on my board.” – Jessica Dobson, Deep Sea Diver

Specifications

  • A note from Benson: “It will have a small amount of hiss, even on “cleaner” settings. If you find yourself thinking about the hiss, our advice is to play a guitar solo instead!”

Delay

Delay is an effect that records the guitar signal and plays it back after a short period of time, creating an echo or repeat. By adjusting the time, feedback, and level, delay can add subtle depth and space or produce rhythmic, expressive repeats that enhance lead lines, ambient textures, and overall atmosphere.

Fuzz

Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.
