Key features

  • Hand-selected woods – From the hand-finished quartersawn Sitka Spruce bracing to the beautiful Indian Rosewood back & sides, every piece of wood on this guitar has been picked from thousands of samples in Alvarez’s factory.
  • Single-level bridge – Channelling the Laureate series’ traditional design style, the single-level Ebony bridge is a classic-style Black Ebony bridge that helps extract a bright, sweet tone from the soundboard.
  • LR Baggs HiFi – This non-invasive pickup pairs dual bridge plate sensors with high-fidelity electronics, with a peel-and-stick installation and built-in studio-quality preamp to boot. Your acoustic tone, from string to body, preserved and amplified perfectly.

Hand Finished FS6 Bracing

FS6 is based on a traditional forward-shifted bracing pattern with particular attention paid to the weight and placement of the struts themselves. For Laureate we take a couple of extra steps and hand sand the braces which are cut from quartersawn Sitka spruce and chosen for their straight, finely grained quality to enhance overall response and vibration.

The Finest Tonewoods

Only our finest, wonderfully quartersawn and silked Sitka is used in the Laureate Series. The stiffness and quality of the top allow us to thickness sand them just a tad thinner to help heighten response. Backs and sides are cut from the best East Indian Rosewood that comes into our possession; book matched with perfect colouring.

The Laureate Bridge

Aesthetically, Laureate is a traditional guitar series in the sense its body shapes are based on guitars from the late 1800’s to the 1930’s. With this in mind, we made the decision not to use our Bi-Level bridge and to stay closer in keeping with a traditional approach, and a full, single-level bridge style. The Laureate bridge has its unique styling and is cut from the finest black ebony.

Alvarez Laureate Series

The new Laureate Series is Alvarez’s most premium-sounding, and aesthetically impressive acoustic guitar they have to offer. This classically styled series has had the Alvarez modern treatment, combining traditional build techniques, with contemporary styling and appointments. Alvarez has focussed their efforts on creating a deep, dynamic, and rich sound, distinctive shapes, and unique finish that make up the Laureate Series.

Parlour

Parlour guitars are small-bodied acoustic guitars that originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, designed for intimate, indoor playing rather than large rooms or stages. Their compact size makes them comfortable to hold and easy to play, with a focused sound that prioritises clarity and balance over volume.

Tonally, parlour guitars are known for a clear midrange, quick response, and a slightly woody or boxy character. They work particularly well for fingerstyle, blues, folk, and early roots music, and are often chosen by players who value detail, dynamics, and a vintage feel, especially for home playing and recording.
