Source Audio ZIO All-Analogue Bass Preamp DI with Headphone Out Pedal is an analogue guitar effects pedal.

Description

An all-analogue Preamp and DI for Bass Guitar

The ZIO Analog Bass Preamp + DI is an ultra-low noise, all-analogue preamp and DI for use with the bass guitar. The pedal offers maximum headroom and a simple but flexible set of tone-shaping controls. ZIO Bass can be used as a direct input using the balanced XLR output for connection to a mixer or audio interface as well as with headphones through its dedicated headphone jack.

Controls

  • OUTPUT: The OUTPUT knob offers +12db of additional boost plus a significant amount of cut.
  • BASS & FOCUS: The BASS and FOCUS control work best in tandem – use the BASS knob to increase low-end output and the FOCUS knob (which adjusts the cut-off point of a high-pass filter) to eliminate excessive lows and create added punch.
  • TREBLE: The TREBLE knob boosts or cuts the high frequencies, providing enhanced articulation without adding harshness.
  • GRIT: The GRIT toggle enables a mild distortion to mimic the transformer-style breakup from high-end bass amps. GRIT mode’s gain level can be adjusted for more or less distortion with the GAIN control located on the side of the pedal.
  • SCOOP: The SCOOP toggle engages a special midrange cut to clean up “muddy” mid-range frequencies.

The pedal has three outputs that can be used individually or simultaneously. The OUTPUT jack connects to an amplifier or pedalboard. The DIRECT OUT is a balanced XLR output that sounds great running into a mixer or audio interface for recording or live sound applications. The HEADPHONE jack features a high dynamic range, a low-noise amplifier that is capable of driving low impedance studio headphones.

Analog

Analog effects use traditional electronic circuits rather than digital processing to shape the guitar signal. They are valued for their warm, natural sound, smooth response, and organic character, making them a popular choice for players who prefer classic tones and a more immediate playing feel.

Bass

Bass gear is all about laying the foundation of the music, providing depth, groove and connection between rhythm and harmony. From bass guitars and amplifiers to pedals and accessories designed specifically for low frequencies, everything here is built to deliver clarity, punch and control. Whether you are holding down a steady rhythm or shaping a more melodic bass voice, the right bass equipment helps you stay locked in and felt as much as heard.

preamp

A preamp is a stage in the signal chain that boosts the guitar’s signal and shapes its core tone before it reaches the power amp or recording interface. Preamp pedals and units can add gain, EQ, and character, helping define clarity, warmth, and drive while forming the foundation of a player’s overall sound.
