Description

The Fortin Fourteen Overdrive is a dual-channel boost and overdrive pedal that combines several of Mike Fortins most sought-after circuit modifications into one powerful professional-grade unit. Designed for players chasing ultra-tight modern metal tones saturated rock gain and highly articulate amp boosting the Fourteen delivers three distinct analogue drive voicings across two completely independent channels. Rather than relying on digital modelling each mode uses dedicated analogue circuit paths based on Fortins renowned modifications of classic overdrive platforms. Each channel can independently switch between HexDrive F9 and F808 modes allowing players to build highly flexible gain structures for rhythm lead and clean channel boosting applications. Remote amplifier switching integration allows the pedal to change amplifier channels simultaneously creating seamless transitions between different amp and drive combinations during live performances. The compact chassis houses relay-based true bypass switching high-grade internal components and rugged professional construction designed for demanding touring and studio use.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Overdrive Pedals

Overdrive uses soft or moderate clipping to add harmonics and compression while retaining more of the original note shape than heavy distortion. Some circuits emphasise the midrange and trim bass before clipping; others remain broad, transparent or amplifier-like. Gain, clipping arrangement, headroom and tone filtering decide whether it supplies a light edge, a saturated drive sound or extra push into another gain stage.
