Description

Jose Arredondo is one of the most influential names in amp modding history. His legendary tweaks to classic British valve amps helped shape the sound of hard rock and metal, delivering more gain, tighter lows, richer harmonics and endless sustain. However, getting hold of a genuine Jose-modded amp was never easy. These sought-after creations weren’t mass-produced — they were custom jobs that became the secret weapon of countless pro guitarists, built one at a time and tailored for players chasing high-octane tone. Classic Jose sound, reimagined by Friedman The Friedman JOSE 20 Series brings that elusive hot-rodded voice into a compact, gig-friendly 20-watt combo. Developed in collaboration with Jose’s daughter, Marisol Arredondo, this amp captures the spirit and character of those iconic mods while making them accessible to modern guitarists. It’s an authentic take on a legendary sound, without the rarity or eye-watering price tag! Made for today’s players The JOSE 20 Series dishes out plenty of punch, whether you’re recording in the studio, rehearsing at home or hitting the stage at your local venue. Expect a tight, aggressive low end, rich harmonic complexity and the kind of smooth, singing sustain that made Jose’s amps famous. It’s got all the attitude and fire of big, classic high-gain rock tones, packed into a portable format that suits most modern playing situations. Flexible tone-shaping controls Under the hood, the JOSE 20 Series offers a surprising amount of tonal flexibility. Volume I and Volume II are internally bridged, combining a brighter, cutting voice with a warmer, fuller character — just like patching channels together on a vintage amp. Flick the Plexi/Drive switch and you’ll engage an additional gain stage for extra saturation, while the three-position Gain Style switch lets you reshape the amp’s response and gain structure.Key Features A Friedman & Arredondo collab: Developed by Dave Friedman and Marisol Arredondo, bringing authentic Jose-inspired sound to a modern 20W platform. Authentic Jose tone DNA: Delivers everything from hot-rodded Plexi crunch to saturated lead tones, without losing the signature articulation and feel that define the Jose sound. Internally bridged: Volume I and Volume II blend bright and normal inputs for a fuller, richer voice, replicating the classic channel-jumping technique used on vintage British amps. Plexi/Drive switch: Adds a genuine extra gain stage for increased saturation, punch and versatility. 3-position Gain Style switch: Revoices the circuit by repositioning the master volume and introducing diode clipping for added edge and modern response. Fat switch: Adds extra body, punch and low-end authority when you need a bigger, thicker sound. Amps

Guitar amps cover everything needed to amplify, shape, and project your guitar sound, from small practice setups to full stage and studio rigs. In this category you’ll find combo amps, separate amp heads and speaker cabinets, covering valve, solid-state, and hybrid designs, each offering a different feel and response. You’ll also see modelling and digital amps, built-in effects, footswitches, attenuation solutions, replacement speakers, valves, and essential accessories to keep an amp performing at its best. Whether you’re chasing pristine cleans, classic crunch, or modern high-gain tones, guitar amps and related gear are all about finding the right balance of power, tone, and control for the way you play.

Combo Amps

Combo amps combine an amplifier and speaker into a single, self-contained unit, making them a practical and popular choice for many players. They’re easy to transport, simple to set up, and available in a wide range of power ratings, from small practice amps to powerful stage-ready models. Combo amps come in valve, solid-state, hybrid, and digital designs, often with built-in effects and tone controls. Their all-in-one nature makes them ideal for home use, rehearsals, recording, and live performance where convenience and reliable tone matter.

1×12

1×12 refers to a speaker configuration with one 12-inch speaker, most commonly found in guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets. It offers a balanced combination of clarity, low-end response, and projection, making it a versatile choice for both home use and live performance.

Compared to smaller speaker setups, a 1×12 delivers a fuller sound with more body, while remaining more compact and portable than larger multi-speaker cabinets. It is popular with players who want strong tone and punch without the weight and volume of a 2×12 or 4×12 setup.

Amp

An amp is an amplifier used to boost the signal from a guitar and shape its overall tone and volume. It plays a major role in how a guitar sounds, influencing everything from clean clarity to natural overdrive and distortion, and is a core part of any guitar setup for both practice and live performance.

Combo Amp

A combo amplifier combines the amp head and speaker cabinet into one convenient, self-contained unit, making it a favourite for players who want great tone without extra setup. Compact and portable, combos come in all sizes and power levels, from small practice amps to stage-ready tube beasts. They deliver everything from sparkling cleans to rich overdrive, often with built-in effects and tone-shaping controls. Perfect for rehearsals, recording, or gigs, a good combo amp gives you the full sound and feel of a complete rig in one easy-to-carry package.
