Description

The Loong is the culmination of lead Tone City designer J. Wong’s 18 years’ experience building effects pedals. The result is a premium preamp and high-gain distortion inspired by classic British amp tones, including voicings based on Tone City’s own Model M and Golden Plexi stompboxes. The Loong is more than just two pedals smashed together – it brings fresher, richer fullness to the sound, incredible amp-like dynamics and plenty more functionality and tone tweaking potential. The Loong can be as the core of your amp pedal rig or add new sounds to your setup!Distinguished British amp sounds across two channelsThe Loong is built on two distinct channels, each with their own EQ, presence setting and gain staging. The first is an asymmetrical clipping that serves up a thick metal tone, ranging from classic eighties fatness to a lean modern aggression. The second symmetrical channel delivers lower gain and a strengthened midrange, which is great for all veins of rock where dynamics play a big part of your sound.Lead and rhythm voicingsYou can also set voicings on both channels to either lead or rhythm based on what you want out of the Loong, whether you’re laying down riffs or tapping into soaring solos. The rhythm mode reduces distortion for a tasty crunch, while the lead setting adds in a boosted kick. The tight switch activated also slims out the low-end for a modern punchy attack. You get excellent headroom as if you were playing into a high wattage amp, meaning your tone only gets saturated if you choose it to, and dynamics stay large and sprightly.Key FeaturesTone City’s premium preamp and distortion pedalA culmination of 18 years of effect design experienceTwo channels: asymmetrical for heavy metal, symmetrical for raspier rock tonesIndependent three-band EQ, presence and gainUnique lead and rhythm voicings, plus a tight switch to focus the low-end boomMade with premium components for excellent sonic qualities and durabilitySpecificationsInput Impendence: 1MOutput Impendence: 10KNormal input level: -10dBMax output level Red channel: +12dBMax output level Blue Channel: +13dBCurrent Draw: 140mAPower Supply: DC 9V adapterDimensions: 14.5(L) 12.5(W) 5.7(H) (cm)Weight: 580gTrue Bypass

Distortion Pedals

Distortion clips the waveform more firmly than overdrive, generating dense upper harmonics, longer sustain and a more compressed response. Circuit topology and filtering decide whether the sound is tight and focused, broad and aggressive, smooth or deliberately abrasive. Gain sets the amount of clipping, while pre- and post-distortion tone controls strongly influence low-end definition, midrange presence and high-frequency texture.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Distortion

Distortion pedals deliver the raw, aggressive edge that defines rock and metal, transforming your clean tone into something powerful and full of attitude. By pushing your signal into rich harmonic saturation, they create thick, sustaining sounds that cut through any mix. From classic crunchy riffs to high-gain modern mayhem, distortion pedals give you total control over how wild or tight your tone gets. Whether you’re crafting searing leads or heavy rhythm walls, they’re an essential tool for adding energy, bite, and character to your playing.
