The Loong is the culmination of lead Tone City designer J. Wong’s 18 years’ experience building effects pedals. The result is a premium preamp and high-gain distortion inspired by classic British amp tones, including voicings based on Tone City’s own Model M and Golden Plexi stompboxes. The first is an asymmetrical clipping that serves up a thick metal tone, ranging from classic eighties fatness to a lean modern aggression.The second symmetrical channel delivers lower gain and a strengthened midrange, which is great for all veins of rock where dynamics play a big part of your sound.Lead and rhythm voicingsYou can also set voicings on both channels to either lead or rhythm based on what you want out of the Loong, whether you’re laying down riffs or tapping into soaring solos. The rhythm mode reduces distortion for a tasty crunch, while the lead setting adds in a boosted kick.
