Description

The Fender American Professional Jazz bass is a classy, timeless instrument that excels in tonal versatility and sleek playing feel for bassists who care about the details. Think of the refreshed American Professional range as a spiritual successor to the American Pro II, building on the formula of vintage style and sounds of the classic models combined with the latest in hardware, electronics and supreme playing experience. This is Fender’s ultimate workhorse guitar built in the USA, ideal for the musicians playing day after day.V-Mod III punchy pickupsFender have levelled up their V-Mod pickup series with this third iteration, voicing the two Jazz single-coils for each neck and bridge position. They’re slightly overwound to pack a bigger punch and immediate presence, while still leaning into the old school characteristics of warmth and clarity that made the original Jazz basses so desirable.A nice little touch is the addition of ClassicGear potentiometers tuned with a custom torque allowing for smooth volume and tone swells to incorporate into your playing. They’re consistent in sound and feel great, adding to the excellent feel of this American Pro Jazz.Upgraded playing feelWhat sets the Jazz apart from the Precision bass in the American Pro line-up and prior USA models is the neck profile, which completely changes the way this bass feels and ultimately determines your approach to the instrument. The maple wood slim “C” neck is a much more contemporary component that players familiar with modern styles will immediately recognise. Combined with the standard Fender 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and the narrow tall frets providing that little touch of retro quality, you’ve got an extremely rapid-playing bass suited to technical nuances. The fingerboard edges have been rolled to give it a nice played-in feel, as if it’s already been broken in by the perfect amount. You’ll also find that the neck heel and neck plate have been rounded off to allow for easy access up to the top frets.Redesigned hardware and outstanding stabilityTwo Posiflex graphite rods run through the Jazz bass’ maple neck reinforcing it to combat climate fluctuations. This makes the American Pro an excellent working bass, as you can move from place to place with the peace of mind that the neck hasn’t shifted to the point where differences in heat and humidity affect intonation and tuning stability. The HiMass bridge design has been overhauled to also provide consistent tuning, resonance through the body and a much more comfortable place to rest your hand – a noticeable step up over previous American Pro guitars.Key FeaturesV-MOD III Pickups – Jazz Bass pickups are voiced specifically for each position, slightly overwound for punch and presence, yet retaining vintage warmth and clarity.Slim “C”-Shaped Neck Profile with Rolled Fingerboard Edges – Also features a 9.5” fingerboard radius, hand-rolled fingerboard edges and Super-Natural satin finish for a supremely comfortable playing feel.Posiflex Graphite Rods – Reinforcing against movement that can occur with fluctuations in the climate. Embedded beneath the fingerboard, they improve reliability on the road, in the studio or in your home.HiMass Pro Bridge – This precision-manufactured bass bridge increases sustain and note definition thanks to its high-mass construction delivering improved attack and resonance at every fret position.ClassicGear Precision Potentiometers – Deliver smooth, consistent control with custom torque, precise resistance and a musical taper for effortless, reliable performance.Sculpted Neck Heel – The rounded neck heel and bevelled neck-plate improve access to the upper register and make leads easy and comfortable.SpecificationsBodyBody: 3-Colour SunburstBody Finish: PolyurethaneBody Shape: Jazz BassBody Style: Solid BodyBody Material: AlderNeckNeck M…

Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Explore electric, acoustic and bass guitars across a wide range of playing styles, body shapes and specifications. The most useful differences include scale length, construction, pickup type, neck profile, materials and whether the instrument is intended for amplified, acoustic or hybrid use. Use the narrower guitar categories and feature tags to compare instruments with similar designs rather than relying on appearance alone.

Bass Guitar

Bass guitars are lower-pitched instruments designed to provide the rhythmic and harmonic foundation of a performance. Scale length, string count, pickup type, active or passive electronics and body construction influence feel, output and tonal range.

Maple Fretboard

A maple fretboard provides the playing surface above the neck and is often finished or sealed as part of the neck construction. Compare radius, fret size, edge treatment, scale length and neck profile as well as the material, because these dimensions have the most direct effect on how the instrument feels.
