Tremolo pedals vary signal level while vibrato pedals vary pitch, creating rhythmic pulsing or pitch movement. Rate, depth, waveform, bias, tap control and expression input can change the character considerably. Compare mono or stereo routing, bypass, switching, power and the available control range with the position of the pedal in the signal chain.
