Footswitches are footswitches right?

Wrong.

Of course whether you buy a cheap Chinese two button footswitch or something a little more upmarket it’s still going to effect the same outcome:

You stomp on the switch and the channel changes on your amp/fx unit/whatever. But that’s not the whole story!

Built like a tank, just like all Boss pedals

The Boss FS-7 has a whole tonne of advantages over cheap and nasty footswitches.

First off and probably the most importantly is the durability.

Cheaper units will eventually fail and you better just hope it’s not when you need it most.

The FS-7 footswitch is built like a tank, just like those 30 year old vintage Boss pedals on your board that refuse to die.

It gives you confidence and peace of mind that no matter how hard you stomp it’s not going to let you down mid set.

A third the size of a traditional two button footswitch

Another benefit of the FS-7 over cheaper units is the compact footprint.

Lets face it you’ve got some awesome pedals to fill up your pedalboard, you don’t want to be using up valuable pedalboard real estate with a footswitch, no matter how rugged and awesome it looks!

Boss have rolled out this new (and currently unique) style of doubled up one-over-the-other switches on many of their professional multi fx units because…

  • It’s innovative
  • Works a charm
  • and it saves you space on your pedalboard!

The FS-7 is about a third of the width of a traditional two button footswitch, which gives you space for at least one more pedal on your board!

Momentary or latching

The FS-7 gives you the flexibility to choose between momentary and latching switching as well as polarity, via a pair of switches on the side.

So whatever brand or type your amp or effects pedal you’re going to have the control you need from the FS-7.

More benefits of the FS-7

And that’s not even mentioning the LEDs or the fact that you can use your own length of cable.

Yeah we’ve all been there and had to put our board somewhere nonsensical so that the wired-in footswitch cable would reach the amp!

Just remember if you want to use the LEDs you’ll need to power the FS-7 with a suitable 9V DC Powersupply, but the good news is there’s an included power splitter so that you get get power to the FS-7 using your currently pedal board power supply without having to sacrifice another pedal!

And if you’re not fussed about having the LEDs then you don’t need to plug it in or use a battery for the FS-7 to work.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Dual — Dual describes gear designed with two of the same or complementary features working together, such as dual channels, dual pickups, or dual effects. This allows greater flexibility and tonal range, letting players switch or blend between sounds for different styles, settings, or playing dynamics without changing their setup.. Footswitch. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own..
