The Electro Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff is a reissue of the classic IC or V4 pedal from 1978 that has appeared on many recordings since its release. The new and improved Op Amp Big Muff features several modifications for the modern player including a die-cast enclosure and true bypass switching. What makes this particular Muff so special is the design incorporates op-amps to produce the distortion rather than transistors; this gives the sound a coarser edge perhaps closer to the Russian Big Muffs tone. Easy-to-use controls for Volume Sustain and Tone make dialling in your perfect fuzz tone easy and the LED provides easy visibility in dark environments. This faithful recreation of a beloved classic is perfect for Smashing Pumpkins enthusiasts and fuzz connoisseurs alike; with a tone this thick theres something for everyone.

Fuzz Pedals

Fuzz drives the signal into extreme clipping, often flattening the waveform and generating a thick spectrum of harmonics. Transistor type, bias, input loading and tone filtering create markedly different responses, from loose and velvety to gated, spluttering or octave-rich. Some circuits interact strongly with pickup impedance and guitar volume, while others include buffers or blends for a more consistent response.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.
