Originally designed by legendary automotive stylist Ray Dietrich the Firebird stood apart from traditional guitar construction when it launched introducing a radical reverse body shape and Gibsons first-ever neck-through-body design. This reissue captures that same bold spirit while offering vintage specifications at a more accessible price point. Finished in Cherry and built with a nine-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through core and mahogany body wings the Firebird I delivers exceptional sustain and a resonant focused tone. Staying true to the stripped-back original it features a single bridge pickup and simple control layout making it a direct expressive instrument that rewards touch and dynamics. Supplied with an Inspired by Gibson Custom hardshell case this Firebird I Reissue is a faithful tribute to a true classic.
