Description

The Gibson Custom LE 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue, Heavy Aged, Olive Drab Top is a striking blend of late 60s heritage and modern Custom Shop craftsmanship. With a solid mahogany body, carved maple top and a pair of 1968 T Top Reissue humbuckers, it delivers the thick midrange punch, singing sustain and articulate bite that defined the original 1968 Les Paul Custom, wrapped up in a bold Olive Drab finish and Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment. Part of the Limited Edition Collection, this reissue distils years of Made to Measure expertise from the Nashville Custom Shop team. The Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer gives the guitar the look, feel and response of a well-travelled vintage instrument, with a tactile, broken in character that invites you to dig in. Multi ply binding, ebony fingerboard and mother of pearl appointments ensure it still looks every bit the high end Custom, even in its more utilitarian, military inspired guise. An Authentic 1968 neck profile with long neck tenon anchors the feel, offering a substantial yet comfortable carve that translates every nuance of your playing into the body. The ebony fretboard, medium jumbo frets and 12 inch radius provide a fast, authoritative platform for everything from fluid bends to precise chord work, while the nylon nut and Kluson Waffleback tuners keep things feeling period correct under the fingers. Electrically, the 1968 T Top Reissue humbuckers deliver a tight low end, open mids and crystalline highs that stay clear under gain. Whether you are chasing expressive cleans, crunchy classic rock or saturated lead tones, the hand wired CTS control layout with Black Beauty capacitors gives you the familiar Les Paul Custom versatility and dynamic response that rewards subtle volume and tone adjustments. Murphy Lab Heavy Aged Finish The Heavy Aged nitrocellulose lacquer, applied and aged by the Murphy Lab, gives this guitar the look and feel of a road worn original from Gibson’s first golden age. The finish feels played in from day one, helping the instrument resonate freely and respond like a well loved vintage Custom. Authentic 1968 Feel and Construction A solid mahogany body with no weight relief, carved maple top and long neck tenon recreate the construction that made late 60s Les Paul Customs so revered. The Authentic 1968 neck profile offers a substantial, era correct feel that enhances sustain and resonance while remaining comfortable for extended playing sessions. 1968 T Top Reissue Humbuckers The 1968 T Top Reissue humbuckers capture the clarity, bite and articulate edge associated with late 60s Gibson pickups. Their open, dynamic character with tight lows and shimmering highs makes them equally at home delivering glassy cleans or muscular overdrive, all while retaining note definition. Olive Drab Custom Aesthetic The Olive Drab top, framed by multi ply binding and complemented by nickel hardware and black plastics, gives this Les Paul Custom a distinctive, purposeful look. It retains all the elegance of a traditional Custom while standing out on stage with a bold, military inspired twist. Key Features Mahogany Body with Maple Top – The classic Les Paul recipe of a solid mahogany body and carved maple top delivers rich midrange, singing sustain and excellent note separation, ideal for powerful rhythm work and soaring lead lines. 1968 T Top Reissue Humbuckers – These pickups provide tight, controlled lows, open mids and clear, sparkling highs, giving you vintage voiced tones that stay articulate under gain and respond beautifully to your picking dynamics.
