Description

Here’s what Gibson say:

While some were produced in 1953, 1954 was the first full year for the classy-looking, tuxedo-inspired Gibson Les Paul™ Custom. The Custom was the first guitar to come equipped with the now-legendary ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge. Like the earliest Les Paul Customs, this Custom Shop reissue is equipped with two Soapbar P-90 pickups and gold hardware. It also has a 1-piece mahogany body, Kluson® Waffleback® tuners with plastic buttons, CTS® potentiometers, paper in oil capacitors, and comes with a Custom Shop hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity.

Played by greats such as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Angus Young, Gibson guitars continue to represent timeless quality, innovation, and a deep connection between player and instrument.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Les Paul

A Les Paul is a solid body electric guitar known for its thick, powerful tone, strong sustain, and classic single-cutaway shape. It is commonly associated with warm, rich sounds and is well suited to rock, blues, jazz, and heavier styles, thanks to its mahogany body, carved top, and typically humbucker-loaded pickups that deliver depth, punch, and smooth overdrive characteristics.

P90

P90 pickups are a type of single-coil pickup known for their thick, punchy sound that sits between traditional single-coils and humbuckers. They deliver strong midrange presence with more output and grit than a typical single-coil, while retaining clarity and touch sensitivity.

Tonally, P90s are raw, dynamic, and expressive, offering bright highs, muscular mids, and a slightly gritty edge when pushed. They are widely used in blues, rock, punk, and indie styles, and are valued for their ability to sound articulate when clean and aggressive when driven.
