Gibson SG Standard Bass Guitar in Ebony is a bass guitar.

Description

Gibson have remained faithful to the classic SG bass design. Well if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The Nashville-based guitar builders have served up the more top-quality specs on their Standard range.

Body & Neck

SG’s are renowned for being light instruments and this applies to the bass model too. It’s got enough meatiness with its Mahogany body to deliver excellent resonance, but remains light enough to play for extended periods of time in comfort.

The neck is an extremely manageable 30.5-inch scale length, especially when compared to the Thunderbird’s 34”. It’s made of a smooth, rounded Mahogany to match the body.

On top is a light, grainy Rosewood fretboard with a slightly curved profile. Embedded are 20 beautifully treated frets that provide longevity and less susceptibility to wear and rust.

Sound

The SG Standard has a unique voicing thanks to its exclusively-designed Rhythm and Lead pickups. It produces legendary vintage growl. The midrange is well-pronounced, while the highs are funky and fresh.

You’ll get plenty of versatility out of it too. You can subtly tweak output with its two independent volume knobs and a master tone. Dial down the volumes and it brightens up.

Hardware

The 3-point adjustable bridge is comfortable for the picking hand and delivers excellent sound transfer through the body. Its Graph Tech nut and Grover tuners combo cuts out tuning problems and string friction.

SG

The Gibson SG (Solid Guitar) is a rock icon with attitude. Introduced in the early 1960s, it took the Les Paul’s power and gave it a sharper, lighter, double-cut design for faster access to higher frets. Its twin humbuckers deliver raw, biting tone and endless sustain — perfect for everything from blues to heavy rock. Played by legends like Angus Young and Tony Iommi, the SG proves that simplicity, style, and sheer power never go out of fashion.
