Ibanez TOD10N Tim Henson “Tree of Death” Left Handed Nylon-String Electro Acoustic Guitar in Transparent Black Flat is a left-handed acoustic guitar.

Description

Tim Henson is a modern virtuoso! Lead guitarist and primary songwriter for instrumental prog-rock band Polyphia, Henson has developed a unique style that’s instantly recognisable — fusing intricately catchy melodies with a sophisticated percussive approach.

As an artist, Henson is always trying to update, invigorate and reinvent his band’s image. He has taken that same approach with the TOD10N, his signature nylon-string electric guitar. The TOD’s most striking aesthetic feature is the fingerboard inlay design, which Tim has dubbed as the “Tree of Death”. The name and the design are both nods to the iconic Ibanez “Tree of Life” inlay design synonymous with Steve Vai’s JEM line of signature models, but with a darker twist.

Key Features

  • Fishman Sonicore Pickup & Ibanez AEQ210TF Preamp — Fishman- Sonicore pickup accurately translates a full guitar sound to whatever amplification system you plug into, while the AEQ210TF preamp provides the extra punch of onboard EQ and the convenience of an easy-to-read digital tuner.
  • Modified FR Hollow Body with Fan Bracing — This thin, compact body with a deep cutaway contributes to the superb playability of this guitar. It has less feedback as there’s no soundhole on the body top. Fan bracing, which is commonly used for classical guitars, allows this guitar to have a warm and natural nylon-string sound.
  • Solid Sitka Spruce Top — Provides an enormous frequency range that offers wave after wave of shimmering highs along with tight mids and a full-bodied bass response.
  • Sapele Back & Sides — Sapele back and sides offer a full-bodied and warm mid-range and a bright tone.
  • Side Sound Port — The sound port on the body side allows you to feel and hear the pure acoustic tone of this guitar more clearly and directly.
  • Walnut Fingerboard — Features a well-balanced tonal character from low to high end.
  • Walnut Bridge — Transfers string vibration directly to the body, delivering a natural and warm tone.

Classical Guitars

Classical guitars use nylon strings and a wider neck to produce a warm, rounded tone with excellent clarity and touch sensitivity. They are traditionally associated with classical and flamenco music, but are also widely used in folk, jazz, and contemporary styles. The lower string tension makes them comfortable to play and well suited to fingerstyle techniques and expressive dynamics. Classical guitars offer an intimate, natural sound that encourages precision, control, and a close connection between the player and the instrument.

Black

Black instruments and gear offer a timeless, understated look that fits almost any style of music or setup. Whether it’s a guitar, pedal or accessory, a black finish is often chosen for its clean appearance, practicality and stage-ready feel. If you prefer gear that looks focused, professional and never goes out of fashion, black options deliver a classic aesthetic with no distractions.

Electro-Acoustic

Electro-acoustic guitars are acoustic instruments fitted with built-in pickups or microphones that allow them to be amplified or connected directly to a PA system or amplifier. They retain the natural acoustic tone and feel of a traditional acoustic guitar while adding the convenience of onboard electronics.

They are commonly used for live performance and recording, especially in situations where consistent volume and clarity are needed. Electro-acoustic guitars often include controls for volume and tone, and sometimes built-in tuners, making them a practical choice for gigging musicians who want an acoustic sound with modern flexibility.

Left-Handed Guitar

Left-handed guitars are built specifically for left-handed players, with the body shape, controls, and string orientation reversed to provide a natural and comfortable playing experience. Available across electric, acoustic, classical, and bass styles, they offer the same variety of tones, features, and build quality as right-handed models. Using a properly designed left-handed guitar helps with balance, technique, and confidence, allowing players to focus on developing their sound without having to adapt to an instrument that doesn’t suit the way they play.
