The Marshall JTM45 2245 is an absolutely stunning recreation of one of the world's most legendary amplifiers. If you believe the very best guitar tones were from the '60s or '70s rock realm, you're in for a treat – it's likely that an amp just like this was used to create them. With beautiful cleans and warm, smooth overdrives, the 2245 JTM45 is about as authentic and old-school as it gets!

Smooth Overdrive

Back in the 1960s, amplifiers didn't really overdrive that much unless they were cranked to ear-splitting volumes. Every so often someone would manage to get a great tone with a slight bit of breakup, but nothing like what these vintage Marshalls could achieve.

A trick that many guitarists used with their vintage JTM amps was to run channel 1 into channel 2 using a jumper patch cable. By doing this, you could go from a crystal-clear clean to a beautifully smooth overdrive with some fuzzy top-end sizzle. In other words, that iconic Marshall crunch.

Classic Simplicity

This amp adheres to a classic formula; before the days of multi-channel amps with complex EQ sections and voicing switches. The Marshall JTM45 2245 is a simple amp with presence, bass, middle and treble controls, and independent 'loudness' controls for its channel 1 and 2 inputs.

And although the JTM45 lacks an effects loop, it still reacts beautifully to stompboxes plugged into its front end. Use you favourite overdrive or distortion pedals to really push the valves into saturation!
