Description

The Maxon OD-808X Overdrive Extreme Pedal is in New condition and made by Maxon , it is a great Pedal Extreme Overdrive OD-808X Maxon Guitar Effect Pedal – Time to take things up a notch. The Maxon OD-808X Overdrive Extreme Pedal is a radically modified more aggressive counterpart to the beloved OD808 Overdrive. Created with heavier musical styles in mind the harder clipping pattern provides distortion with more snarl and is capable of accessing higher-gain tones. While the internal architecture is very similar to the OD808 the Extreme features an additional +5 dB of output level that ensures that the OD808X punches through the densest of mixes with an authority that most overdrives just cannot match. The buffered bypass design of the original is preferred here which helps maintain signal integrity – especially useful for bigger pedalboards. If green is now symbolic of legendary overdrives then the OD808X is making red the high gain alternative. . Available from Guitar Pedals Amps & Stuff for only £ 115 – The Tube Squealer The OD808s angrier older brother. With history on its side the Maxon overdrive pedals stake a big claim for being the best ever invented. However the gain limitations presented a tonal ceiling which meant they just couldnt handle heavier music where having gain on tap is essential – the OD808X is here to address this issue. It boasts +5 dB of output level a harder clipping pattern and an extended high-frequency tonal range that offers additional clarity without becoming harsh. If youre after an overdrive that retains its vintage character but feels right at home with higher gain and sludgier distortion the OD808X is ideal. Not lost in this increased aggression is the touch-sensitive dynamics the originals are known for; dig in harder more increased breakup while a softer touch will give a cleaner overdriven tone. The secret behind the OD808s legendary tone lies in the design which was particularly radical for the late 70s. Rather than having separate amplifier and clipping stages like most overdrive pedals the OD808 distorts the signal in the amplifier stage yielding a smoother more natural sounding distortion than a separate clipping stage. With the harder clipping that the Extreme offers this creates a formidable partnership where you get all the smooth rounded tones of an OD808 but with the added grit and crunch of a high-gain distortion pedal. Overdrive

Overdrive is a type of guitar effect that simulates the natural distortion that occurs when a tube amplifier is pushed beyond its clean limit. Overdrive pedals achieve this by boosting the input signal of the guitar, causing the amplifier to saturate and produce a warm, saturated, and crunchy sound.

Overdrive pedals are commonly used in various styles of music, including rock, blues, and punk, to add grit, sustain, and harmonic richness to the guitar’s sound. They are versatile tools that can be used to achieve a wide range of tones, from subtle breakup to full-on distortion, depending on the settings and the amplifier being used. Some classic examples of overdrive pedals include the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the Boss OD-1, and the Fulltone OCD, among others
