The Music Man StingRay Special HH is a modern evolution of one of the most iconic bass guitars ever created expanding the classic StingRay formula with added tonal flexibility. First introduced in 1976 the StingRay was among the first production basses to feature onboard active equalisation setting a new standard for punch clarity and control. This HH version retains the unmistakable StingRay identity but makes use of a dual humbucker layout and five-way switching for a broader range of sounds. A roasted maple neck with a sculpted five-bolt joint provides smooth access to all 22 stainless steel frets while refined body contours and lightweight hardware improve comfort and balance across long sessions. Two Music Man humbuckers loaded with neodymium magnets pair with an 18-volt three-band active preamp to deliver huge headroom and detailed tone shaping from tight modern slap to thick fingerstyle grooves and aggressive rock sounds.
