Description

The Ibanez RG is a modern classic, with its sharp and elegant aesthetics catching the eyes of many hard rockers and metallers since as far back as the late 80s. The Genesis Collection RG550 harkens back to that golden era, with its super-versatile H/S/H pickup configuration, Edge double-locking tremolo system and its vibrant colour scheme.

Construction

The RG has always been a premium instrument built purely for performance. With a lightweight Basswood body, you won’t feel strain on your back or shoulders when playing long sets live, and you can expect a full-bodied sound thanks to the wood’s balanced tonal qualities.

A bolt-on 5pc Maple/Walnut neck will provide a snappy response with plenty of mid-range projection, perfect for complex riffs or solos that need loads of cut in frantic mixes. The notoriously thin Super Wizard neck profile will make fast passages a breeze to play; fitted with jumbo frets to offer you maximum playability up and down the fretboard.

Electronics and Hardware

Ibanez’s V7 and V8 humbuckers (in the neck and bridge positions respectively) will handle high doses of gain without any issues. Giving you lots of saturation and top-end clarity, these are perfect for heavier genres of music. The S1 single-coil in the middle position however will let you attain S-style tones when used on its own, ideal for playing clean chords or arpeggios with.

A double-locking Edge tremolo system offers incredible tuning stability, no matter how extreme your divebombs or flutters might be. With all hardware appointments finished in black, this super-sleek looking guitar will inspire you to just pick it up and shred!

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Left-Handed Guitar

Left-handed guitars are built specifically for left-handed players, with the body shape, controls, and string orientation reversed to provide a natural and comfortable playing experience. Available across electric, acoustic, classical, and bass styles, they offer the same variety of tones, features, and build quality as right-handed models. Using a properly designed left-handed guitar helps with balance, technique, and confidence, allowing players to focus on developing their sound without having to adapt to an instrument that doesn’t suit the way they play.

Tremolo

Tremolo is an effect that creates a rhythmic pulsing by varying the volume of the guitar signal up and down. It can be subtle and smooth or choppy and pronounced, adding movement and texture to clean tones and is commonly associated with classic amps and vintage-style sounds.
