Description

Where a tried-and-tested tonewood combination meets an iconic Auditorium design, magic can happen. Martin’s Strandard Series 000-28 is a perfect example of this, delivering a perfectly balanced sound with a hint of modern playability that means you won’t want to put it down – without ever sacrificing that vintage class that the company is known for.

Over 185 years, Martin’s original and most discernible models have largely remained intact and unchanged, demonstrating the winning formula that they established almost two centuries ago. For 2025, they’ve introduced a sweeping wave of updates to elevate the sound, playability, and aesthetics of these cornerstone guitars, from Golden Era bracing to subtle neck & heel improvements..

Body

In typical Martin tradition, the 000-28 Standard is crafted from some of the finest tonewoods available. Featuring East Indian Rosewood back and sides, this instrument delivers rich and characterful tones that are balanced and full-sounding, ensuring excellent projection. Paired with a Spruce top, expect a singing top-end with plenty of articulation, giving light finger-picked sections and chords the stunning crisp vibrancy you’d expect from a Martin acoustic.

Neck

The neck is formed from Select Hardwood, an incredibly stable choice that is less prone to warping in differing temperatures. Topped with a thinner Ebony fretboard, this sleek and elegant-looking wood not only feels smooth under the fingers, but also offers a clear upper mid-range sparkle that gives a reassuring bite to notes.

With a modified low oval neck profile, the 000-28 Standard provides a comfortable position for your left hand to fret shapes with without feeling fatigue. Each guitar undergoes a thorough process via a PLEK machine, accurately measuring and dressing the frets for unparalleled consistency across the neck. This practically eliminates buzzing and enhances the playability of the guitar as a whole.

Golden Era Design

The 000-14 Fret body features Martin’s Golden Era (GE) scalloped X bracing, giving the 000-28 richly enhanced sustain and a robust structure that’ll last a lifetime. Enjoy a more comfortable playing experience with the modernised GE bridge, boasting smoother curves and subtler edges. A longer diamond neck transition, thinner fingerboard with beveled edges, and a sleeker vintage heel are the cherries on top, offering subtle aesthetic enhancements without taking away from the 000-28’s vintage roots.

Please note: the images on this listing are of the previous Martin Standard Series releases, so there may be subtle aesthetic differences to the 2025 models. New photographs coming soon!
