Description

Guitar strings have always been a complete pain for musicians. For some one set will last for ever but for others you can’t go a gig without having to change your strings. There are things you can do to make sure you don’t have to change strings as often, like pick up a set of these Elixir 10-46 12 string strings.

Nanoweb Coating

Elixir produce strings with different types of coating but their most popular by far is their Nanoweb line. This coating is so thin you will barely notice it which helps with playability and making sure you still have the same bright new string sound. Plus the strings last much longer with this coating thanks to their anti rust nature. Normally you can get between 3 to 5 times as much play time when compared to non coated strings.

Reduced Noise

Non coated strings famously make a lot of noise as you move your fingers over them. This squeak has become a pain for all guitarists who want to achieve the perfect performance with no extra sounds. The nanoweb coating helps fix this issue by smoothing the surface of the string reducing all kinds of extra noise.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Guitar

Explore electric, acoustic and bass guitars across a wide range of playing styles, body shapes and specifications. The most useful differences include scale length, construction, pickup type, neck profile, materials and whether the instrument is intended for amplified, acoustic or hybrid use. Use the narrower guitar categories and feature tags to compare instruments with similar designs rather than relying on appearance alone.

12 String

12-string guitars use six pairs of strings, with each pair tuned either in unison or an octave apart, creating a fuller and more harmonically rich sound than a standard six-string. This paired-string design produces a natural chorusing effect, giving the instrument a wide, shimmering character.

They are commonly used for rhythm playing, strummed parts, and open chords, where their bright, layered sound adds depth and presence. 12-string guitars are popular in folk, rock, and acoustic music, and are especially valued for creating expansive textures rather than detailed lead playing.

Electric Guitar

Electric guitars use pickups to convert string vibration into an amplified signal. Tagged products may differ in body construction, scale length, bridge type, pickup layout and switching, all of which affect feel and tonal range. Use the more specific body-shape, pickup and construction tags to narrow the comparison.
