Description

ESP take a classic design into modern territory. The LTD Viper-1000 Baritone offers some of the best specs you’ll find – not only within the ESP range – but the world over for a Korean-made guitar. Exceptional construction, stylish looks and elite hardware and electronics.

Construction

Made of a solid mahogany body with a gorgeous quilted maple top, the Viper-1000 Baritone is a true spectacle of a guitar – but it doesn’t stop there. Playability is always at the forefront of ESP’s design books.

It hosts a set-thru thin ‘U’ neck paired with an ebony fingerboard; a winning combination found across the ESP catalogue in their USA built guitars and production models alike. Hardware choices include locking tuners and a Tonepros locking TOM and tailpiece for incredible stability.

The 27" scale length is perfect for low tuned chugging as it increases the tension on the strings. The guitar comes tuned B-B but will have no problems going even lower, for filthy, heavy prog tones!

Sound

The EMG 60TW-R and EMG 81 are a perfect blend for progressive musical styles. Modern rock players find themselves dipping into more sounds than ever before across a clean and crunchy tonal spectrum and these active humbuckers (with a push-pull pot to switch between active and passive) suit it to a tee.

The EMG pickups deliver aggressive output of harmonically rich, responsive attack suited to high gain, with a sparkly top end and prominent midrange.

Here's what ESP say about the LTD Viper-1000 Baritone

Guitars in the LTD 1000 Series are designed to offer the tone, feel, looks and quality that working professional musicians require in an instrument. With the Viper-1000 Baritone, you get the diabolical look of the asymmetrical double-cutaway body shape in a 27” baritone scale guitar, typically tuned a fourth below standard (B-E-A-D-F#-B) for extended low end range for modern rock and metal. It uses set-thru construction for easy access to the highest frets, with a mahogany body and three-piece mahogany neck. Its Macassar ebony fingerboard includes 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets and white pearloid ESP flag inlays, and white binding on the neck and headstock. Components on the Viper-1000 Baritone include a TonePros locking TOM bridge and tailpiece, LTD locking tuners, and a set of EMG 60TW-R (neck, splittable with push-pull control) and EMG 81 (bridge) pickups, offering a good variety of powerful, aggressive tones.

More info about this Product

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Baritone

Baritone guitars are designed with a longer scale length than standard guitars, allowing them to be tuned lower while maintaining string tension and clarity. They typically sit between a standard guitar and a bass in pitch, producing a deeper, heavier sound without losing definition.

They are widely used in alternative, metal, ambient, and cinematic styles, as well as for modern rhythm work and textural playing. Baritone guitars offer tight low-end response and extended range, making them ideal for players who want lower tunings with improved note clarity and control.

Black

Black instruments and gear offer a timeless, understated look that fits almost any style of music or setup. Whether it’s a guitar, pedal or accessory, a black finish is often chosen for its clean appearance, practicality and stage-ready feel. If you prefer gear that looks focused, professional and never goes out of fashion, black options deliver a classic aesthetic with no distractions.
