Description

The Fender American Professional marks 75 years of Telecaster history, combining classic style and sound with the latest Fender has to offer in the playing department. This refresh of the American Professional Tele range succeeds the previous American Professional II – think of the new line-up as the American Pro III in spirit. Featuring upgrades like V-Mod III pickups capturing the essence of traditional tone with the cut required in a modern mix, a comfortable bridge redesign, and fan favourite touches like the Super-Natural satin finish neck and rolled fretboard edges making for a classy played-in feel. This is the ultimate working musician’s instrument made to be played day in, day out. V-Mod III Pickups and Series Mode electronics Fender have built upon their V-Mod series of pickups with the III iteration single-coils voiced specifically for each position. In the bridge you get crisp attack and dynamism, while in the neck you can tap into a warm rawness perfect for glistening cleans and smooth leads. You get even more tones out of a push-push switch activating a series mode, creating a fatter, thicker voicing you wouldn’t usually expect from a Telecaster. You have precise control over volume and tone using the ClassicGear Precision potentiometers, which benefit from a custom torque and sharp resistance letting you swell in and out with accuracy and musicality. Sleek playing experience The Fender team have added a deep “C” profile neck to the American Pro Tele range, treading the line between vintage depth and overall contemporary size. The satin Super-Natural finish and rolled fingerboard edges makes this an instrument to get stuck into straight away with little adjustment needed to the way you play, as if it’s been lightly played in. From there it’s iconic Tele touch, with 22 vintage-inspired narrow tall frets across everyone’s favourite 9.5-inch fretboard radius making for expressive bends and easy chord fretting. The neck heel has been rounded and the plate bevelled, preventing you from catching your hand or arm on the corner and making a reach for the upper register completely seamless. ClassicGear personal bridge setup Some players struggle with the classic Tele bridge. Not here – it’s been redesigned with ClassicGear Compensated Brass Bullet saddles, which are without doubt the comfiest ever to feature on a Telecaster. They also provide long-lasting and accurate intonation in tandem with a hard-wearing bone nut. Working your own custom setup has never been easier, as you can reduce or add tension to each string, which in turn affects how mellow or twangy a string sounds.Key FeaturesV-Mod III Pickups – V-Mod III Telecaster pickups are voiced specifically for each position, creating a perfectly balanced tone with the vintage warmth and crisp, clear sound that made Fender a legend.Sculpted Neck Heel – The rounded neck heel and beveled neck-plate improve access to the upper register and make leads easy and comfortable.Top-Load/String-Through Classicgear Compensated Brass Bullet Saddle Tele Bridge – Fender’s most comfortable, flexible Tele saddles yet. Retaining classic brass-saddle tone, they provide excellent intonation and flexible setup options, allowing you to tailor the tension and tone of each string to your liking. Strings can be top-loaded for reduced tension, resulting in a mellower twang and springy attack.Deep “C” Neck Profile with Rolled Fingerboard Edges – slim at the nut and fills out gradually as it approaches the neck joint to create a natural feel that’s perfect for chording and single note playing alike. The hand-rolled fingerboard edges and Super-Natural satin finish provide a supremely comfortable feel.Special Electronics – A performance-friendly push-push switch on the tone control activates the series mode in position 2, using both pickups to create a fatter tone not normally found on a Tele.Classi…

Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

The most useful differences include scale length, construction, pickup type, neck profile, materials and whether the instrument is intended for amplified, acoustic or hybrid use. Use the narrower guitar categories and feature tags to compare instruments with similar designs rather than relying on appearance alone.

Tagged products may differ in body construction, scale length, bridge type, pickup layout and switching, all of which affect feel and tonal range. Use the more specific body-shape, pickup and construction tags to narrow the comparison.

Rosewood Fretboard

A rosewood fretboard is an unfinished or lightly treated playing surface used on many guitars and basses. Species, colour and grain can vary. Radius, fretwork, scale length and neck profile should be compared alongside the material when assessing comfort and specification.

Telecaster

The Telecaster is one of the most iconic electric guitars ever made, first introduced by Fender in the early 1950s. Known for its simple design, solid body, and distinctive twang, it became the go-to instrument for country, rock, blues, and punk players alike. Its two single-coil pickups deliver bright, cutting tones with great clarity, making it perfect for both rhythm and lead work. The Tele’s bolt-on neck, smooth playability, and rugged build have helped it remain a timeless classic — a true workhorse guitar that’s still inspiring musicians over 70 years after its debut.
