Description
Over 40 years after they were discontinued, Fender have finally reissued an authentic recreation of the CuNiFe Wide Range humbuckers from the 70s! Found in 70s Fender Telecaster Deluxes, Customs, and Thinlines, the original Wide Range humbucker got its unique and beloved sound from the CuNiFe magnets inside. For the first time since the originals in the 70s you can now get your hands on a new CuNiFe Wide Range pickup to get that uniquely clear and articulate humbucker tone.
What Are CuNiFe Wide Range Humbuckers?
The Wide Range humbucker was invented in the 70s by Seth Lover, the man behind Gibson’s legendary PAF pickup. The original 70s models used CuNiFe pole pieces for the pickup magnets which gives them their unique and much-desired tone. The wide range humbuckers were used in Fender’s iconic Telecaster Deluxe, Custom, and Thinline models in the 70s but were discontinued at the end of the era. Original wide range humbuckers became a hot commodity as the various reissues used different alloys for the magnets so the tone was never quite the same. This reissue finally goes back to the CuNiFe design so you can truly capture that classic tone.
What do they sound like?
The CuNiFe Wide Range pickup is definitely a Fender take on the humbucker. This pickup has a high-fidelity sound; bright, clear, and with excellent attack and note definition, even when you turn up the gain. Balancing power and articulation, this pickup works in a wide range of genres from jazz to rock, and its unique design and tone will help you stand out from the crowd.
