1967’s Summer of Love and Flower Power movement influenced mainstream fashions worldwide, and Fender was on board with its new Blue Flower and Paisley Telecasters. Oddly enough, the guitars became more popular with rockabilly and country western players (they were adopted most famously by Tele master James Burton) rather than the flower children that helped inspire them. These guitars have earned a special place in Fender history, and the Fender Custom Shop Vintage Custom 1968 Blue Flower and Paisley Tele models are faithful recreations of those original instruments.

The two-piece select alder body wears an NOS lacquer finish with WLS undercoat over the famous Paisley or Blue Flower motif. The rift-sawn maple neck has a ’60-style “oval C” profile, topped by a round-lam rift-sawn maple fingerboard with 7.25″-9.5″ vintage compound radius and 21 medium vintage frets for a comfortable feel up and down. Hand-wound ’67 Tele pickups meet the exact spec for that year, with a three-way switch and modern Tele wiring. Other features include an eight-hole clear polyurethane pickguard, ’67 Tele bridge with threaded steel saddles, Schaller® “F” tuning machines, bone nut, and wing string tree. Deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity included.

‘60s C Oval Shape Neck

The neck that can do everything! Not too thin and not too fat, just right no matter what style of playing you want to play that day. The neck is big enough that you can still wrap your thumb over and feel the whole guitar shake as you strum the strings as hard as you can yet still thin enough that you can effortlessly shred up and down the neck.

‘67 Telecaster Pickups

The Fender Custom Shop grey bobbin ’67 Telecaster pickups provide the ultimate late ‘60s Tele tones. These authentic reproductions are constructed using all the desirable ingredients… Alnico 5 magnets on period-correct fibre bobbins wrapped using Enamel-coated magnet wire with Copper baseplates, a vintage-accurate stagger and wired using cloth wire! They provide the quintessential Tele twang with crystal clear highs and an articulate thump on the low end. These low-output pickups ring like a bell and respond well to dynamic playing.

  • NOS – One of the most popular finish options in the Fender Custom Shop. A New Old Stock guitar looks exactly how it would have looked the day it left the factory, however many years ago. It’s as close to having a time machine as we can offer!
  • Compound Radius – With its rounder 7.25’’ radius by the nut and flatter 9.5’’ radius from the 12th fret, this ’67 offers maximum comfort up and down the neck.
  • Premium Tonewoods – Utilising the classic Fender wood combination of an Alder body with a Maple neck and fingerboard, this Tele offers the renowned tonal balance, pronounced articulation and resonant sustain that golden-era Fenders are famed for.
