Description

Originally launched in 1942 during Gibson’s famed Banner era, the LG-2 stepped in as the successor to the L-00 and quickly earned its place among Gibson’s most beloved small-body acoustics. Released alongside icons like the J-45™ and Southern Jumbo, the LG-2 became a favourite for players seeking a guitar that delivers a big, balanced voice in a more compact form—an ideal alternative to larger-bodied models.
Today, Gibson proudly reintroduces this classic with the LG-2 50s Original, a faithful tribute to the highly sought-after 1950s versions. Responding to years of demand, this new model combines vintage-inspired aesthetics with exceptional craftsmanship. It features a solid Sitka spruce top supported by traditional scalloped X-bracing, paired with solid mahogany back and sides for a rich, resonant tone. The body is accented with three-ply top and single-ply back binding, while the mahogany neck sports a comfortable Rounded profile and a compound dovetail joint secured with hot hide glue. An unbound rosewood fretboard with 20 frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays adds understated elegance. Completing the look is a sloped, rectangular rosewood bridge with two mother-of-pearl dots, bone nut and saddle, TUSQ® bridge pins, Grover® strap tuners with white buttons, and a tortoise teardrop pickguard for authentic vintage character.
The Sitka spruce top brings a lively, bright, and balanced tone that sets it apart from wartime LG-2 models with mahogany tops, making it versatile for a wide range of genres and playing styles. Its smaller size offers comfort for players who prefer a more manageable instrument, while providing a distinctive tonal option for recording. To meet modern performance needs, the LG-2 50s Original comes equipped with an L.R. Baggs™ VTC pickup system featuring discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls. This ensures the guitar is ready for stage or studio straight out of its included Gibson hardshell case—without sacrificing its vintage appeal. Whether you’re looking for a go-to couch companion, a reliable live partner, or a fresh voice for your recordings, the LG-2 50s Original delivers in every way.SpecificationsBody

Electro-Acoustic

Electro-acoustic guitars are acoustic instruments fitted with built-in pickups or microphones that allow them to be amplified or connected directly to a PA system or amplifier. They retain the natural acoustic tone and feel of a traditional acoustic guitar while adding the convenience of onboard electronics.

They are commonly used for live performance and recording, especially in situations where consistent volume and clarity are needed. Electro-acoustic guitars often include controls for volume and tone, and sometimes built-in tuners, making them a practical choice for gigging musicians who want an acoustic sound with modern flexibility.
