Here’s what Gretsch say

Inspired by the pivotal and prolific years of Gretsch’s 1950s and early ’60s golden age, Vintage Select Edition guitars are designed for the player who appreciates the finest in musical instrument heritage. The G6134T-58 Vintage Select ’58 Penguin™ with Bigsby® rocks that legacy with a finely crafted new take on that rarest of Gretsch birds. 1958 saw Gretsch’s venerable Penguin guitar decked out with a pair of Filter’Tron™ pickups, complementing the signature sound of its chambered mahogany body, which magnifies harmonic richness by letting air resonate between the top and body for livelier and more articulate tone. The dual TV Jones® Classic™ pickups on this gorgeous Antarctic baby in Vintage White replicate that unmistakable vintage Filter’Tron™ sound to fabulous sonic effect.

Founded in Brooklyn in 1883, Gretsch became iconic through artists like Chet Atkins, George Harrison, and Brian Setzer, whose twangy, resonant sound came from the brand’s signature hollow and semi-hollow body designs. With features such as Filter’Tron pickups, Bigsby tremolos, and ornate finishes, Gretsch guitars blend elegance with attitude. Whether it’s the warm chime of a White Falcon or the punch of a Duo Jet, Gretsch instruments continue to offer timeless character and individuality for players who want something truly unique.
