The Ibanez BTB605MLM is a pro-spec, multi-scale 5-string bass designed for players who demand boutique feel and performance without the boutique price tag. With a neck-through construction, premium woods and advanced electronics, it delivers huge clarity, tight low end and exceptional playability — all wrapped up in a classy Pearl White Matte finish.

Built as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop project, the BTB605MLM-PWM is aimed at bassists who want to explore new sonic territory while retaining rock-solid fundamentals. The extended 35 to 34 inch multi-scale design, ergonomic T1 pickups and ultra-stable 5-piece neck make it equally at home in modern metal, fusion, gospel or any style that demands precision and power.

Premium feel & looks

The Okoume wing body produces a bright, solid tone with rich sustain. While the Maple fingerboard, medium stainless steel frets and satin finish contribute to a fast, smooth playing experience that feels truly high-end.

Multi-scale punch & comfort

The multi-scale design gives the low B string extra tension and clarity, even when tuned down, while keeping the higher strings feeling familiar and comfortable. The result is a tighter, more defined low end and smoother, more ergonomic fretting across the entire neck.

Neck-through sustain & stability

A 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck with graphite reinforcement rods runs right through the body, enhancing sustain, note definition and tuning stability. This construction also provides effortless upper fret access, making complex lines and solos feel natural and controlled.

Expressive T1 pickups with custom 3-band EQ

Ibanez T1 humbuckers deliver tight bass, punchy mids and clear highs — with a comfortable rounded profile for thumb anchoring. Paired with the Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ, 3-way mid frequency switch and EQ bypass, you can quickly dial in precise tones for any genre or playing situation.

Key Features

  • 35-34″ multi-scale neck: The extended 35″ scale on the low B string tightens up the bottom end for clearer, more powerful lows. While the 34″ scale on the G string keeps the higher strings comfortable to play. This balance improves intonation, feel and projection across all five strings.
  • Neck-through Maple/Walnut neck with graphite rods: The neck-through design and multi-piece construction maximise sustain and resonance, with graphite reinforcement rods adding strength and stability. This means consistent performance, reliable tuning and a solid feel under the fingers — even with aggressive playing styles.
  • Stainless steel frets: Stay smooth and shiny for years, resisting wear and corrosion so your notes will pop with clarity every time.
  • T1 humbuckers with advanced electronics: T1 pickups provide a versatile, modern voice with tight lows, articulate mids and crisp highs. The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ, plus mid frequency switch and EQ bypass, let you find your sound for everything from studio-clean definition to heavy, cutting tones.
  • MR5S bridge with adjustable string spacing: The MR5S bridge allows you to fine-tune string spacing by +/- 1.5 mm around the standard 19 mm setting, so you can dial in the perfect feel for fingerstyle, pick or slap techniques.

Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.
