The Ibanez PIA (meaning "Paradise In Art") is the result of another fruitful collaboration between Ibanez and Steve Vai. It's immediately apparent that this ornate instrument is an evolved version of the Vai's familiar JEM series of instruments. For the PIA, Ibanez has tweaked a number of features to elevate it to new creative heights.

Make no mistake — the PIA range is the culmination of a working relationship between Vai and Ibanez that spans over 3 decades. This is arguably the ultimate Vai signature model, and a first-class performance instrument in every sense!

Cutting-Edge Construction

Aesthetically, the PIA guitar takes Vai's signature design style to the next level. Eye-catching finishes, intricate floral patterns, luxurious hardware — the works.

In terms of functional design, the construction promises precise and dynamic performance. A solid Alder body features a renewed take on Vai’s signature handhold feature, while the Rosewood fingerboard boasts a beautiful blossom inlay. The multi-piece neck is comprised of Maple and Walnut, while the new PIA neck profile promises graceful navigation of the 24-fret range — enhanced with the desirable Ibanez Prestige fret edge treatment.

DiMarzio UtoPIA Pickups

The PIA's headline feature is arguably its versatile, H/S/H set of DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups. These have been specially-voiced by Vai and DiMarzio to offer a smoother treble response and a more pronounced low-end — for pristine modern tones. DiMarzio has also added a distinct finish to the pickup covers, perfectly complementing the guitar's vibrant aesthetic.

Edge Tremolo

Ibanez's Edge tremolo bridge is combined with the groundbreaking "Lion's Claw" tremolo cavity. This allows for rapid vibrato with dramatic pitch range. No limits to your expression! The 'Ultralite' vibrato arm makes pitch control feel effortless too; utilising carbon graphite for the grip.

The Important stuff

Blue. Electric — Electric guitars are all about versatility and expression, using pickups and amplification to create everything from clean chime to heavy distortion. Body types like solid, semi-hollow, and hollow each offer their own tonal character, while different pickup configurations such as single coils or humbuckers shape the sound further. A good electric guitar should feel balanced, stay in tune, and respond well to dynamics and effects. Whether you’re chasing classic rock tones, blues warmth, or modern high gain, the electric guitar is a powerful tool for creativity and individuality.. Electric Guitars. Guitar. in. PIA. Signature.
