The J. Rockett HRM V2 is designed to achieve the overdriven sounds of a legendary D-style amp with the acclaimed HRM ("Hot Rubber Monkey") EQ mod — a popular modification by Howard Dumble where additional gain stages and tonal options were fitted to enhance the versatility and the sonic capabilities of his highly sought-after amps. This custom EQ creates a very low-mid centric, throaty sound where the guitar frequencies thrive — it's sonic bliss!

For this V2 version, JRAD were able to spend about 2 years living with an actual Dumble amplifier with the HRM EQ mod. This allowed them to really drill down on the subtle nuances to make a superior version to the original HRM pedal. This stompbox, even at lower gain settings, will bloom and feedback — making it feel just like the real thing.

One of the great happy accidents that occurred when developing their HRM V2, was that J. Rockett realised that the pedal can achieve some of the best Tube Screamer tones you could ask for — with more control over the EQ. The HRM V2 really is something special, and if you buy one, we're certain that it'll become a staple on your pedalboard!

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.
