Description

The Laney IRF120H is a 120-watt, all-analogue guitar amp head that packs the full Ironheart Foundry feature set into a traditional head setup. Pair it with the matching IRF212 cabinet (or your favourite 8 or 16-ohm cab) and you’ve got a seriously capable rig that’s ready for everything from rehearsals and gigs to studio recording. Offering huge volume on tap, modern recording-friendly connectivity and the wicked Ironheart tone, the IRF120H delivers the feel and response players love without the weight, maintenance or cost typically associated with valve amps. Authentic analogue feel At the heart of the IRF120H is a fully analogue signal path designed to give you the responsiveness and touch sensitivity that make great amps feel alive under your fingers. Rather than relying on digital modelling or algos, Laney has recreated the behaviour of its renowned Ironheart valve circuitry entirely in analogue form. The result? An amp that reacts naturally to your picking dynamics and playing style, delivering the punch, immediacy and organic feel you’d usually associate with quality valve gear. Two channels, six distinct voices Each channel offers three selectable modes, giving you six distinct tonal flavours to explore. Channel 1 includes Clean for maximum headroom and a pedal-friendly foundation, Asym for vintage-inspired breakup and Sym for a tighter, more focused drive that cuts through the mix. Channel 2 takes things in a different direction, with Bright adding sparkle and presence for leads, Flat delivering a balanced full-range response and Dark smoothing off the top end for warmer, rounder tones. Each channel has its own dedicated 3-band passive tone stack too. This means that Channel 1 and Channel 2 can be voiced totally independently (different EQ curves, gain characters, etc.) with zero interaction between them. Built for stage and studio The IRF120H is just as comfortable in the studio as it is on stage. Thanks to Laney’s built-in LA·IR (Laney Analogue Impulse Response) tech, getting a polished, record-ready sound couldn’t be easier. Integrated directly into the balanced XLR output, LA·IR lets you load your own cabinet impulse responses or choose from a selection of expertly voiced Laney cabs. Whether you’re recording straight into your DAW, sending a signal directly to front of house or practising silently with headphones, you’ll get a convincing mic’d-cab sound.Key Features 120 watts of all-analogue power: Delivers more than enough volume, punch and headroom you need for rehearsals, gigs and everything in between. Two fully independent channels: Switch between two distinct amp sounds, each with its own gain structure, selectable voicings and EQ controls. Change channels on the fly via the FS2-Mini footswitch (sold separately). Footswitchable Pre-Boost: Using the same footswitch, you can give your solos a lift whenever you like with added sustain, gain and output. Onboard reverb: Adds depth and ambience to your sound, whether you’re after spacious cleans or soaring lead tones. LA·IR equipped XLR direct output: Send consistent, studio-quality tones straight to a PA system or audio interface. You can even load your own impulse responses! USB-C audio I/O: Don’t have an audio interface? No problem, go direct to your computer with wicked tone via the USB-C port on the back of the amp. It also enables app control and impulse response management. Series effects loop (send/return): Place your favourite modulation, delay and reverb pedals after the preamp for maximum clarity and control. Headphone output and Aux In: Handy for silent practice sessions, letting you jam along to backing tracks without disturbing anyone else. Amp Heads

An amp head contains the core tone and power of a guitar amplifier without the built-in speakers, allowing you to pair it with the cabinet of your choice. This setup offers greater flexibility over sound and volume, as different speaker cabinets can dramatically change the feel and character of the amp. Amp heads are available in valve, solid-state, and hybrid designs, ranging from low-wattage studio models to high-powered touring rigs. They’re ideal for players who want a modular setup, precise control over their tone, and the ability to adapt their rig to different venues, cabinets, or recording situations.

Amps

Guitar amps cover everything needed to amplify, shape, and project your guitar sound, from small practice setups to full stage and studio rigs. In this category you’ll find combo amps, separate amp heads and speaker cabinets, covering valve, solid-state, and hybrid designs, each offering a different feel and response. You’ll also see modelling and digital amps, built-in effects, footswitches, attenuation solutions, replacement speakers, valves, and essential accessories to keep an amp performing at its best. Whether you’re chasing pristine cleans, classic crunch, or modern high-gain tones, guitar amps and related gear are all about finding the right balance of power, tone, and control for the way you play.

120W

Products with the 120W tag have an amplifier or power stage whose stated output is 120 watts. Wattage alone does not determine perceived loudness, clean headroom or suitability for a room: speaker efficiency, impedance, cabinet design, amplifier type and how the power is measured also matter. Compare the complete specification and intended practice, recording or performance use.

Amp

An amp is an amplifier used to boost the signal from a guitar and shape its overall tone and volume. It plays a major role in how a guitar sounds, influencing everything from clean clarity to natural overdrive and distortion, and is a core part of any guitar setup for both practice and live performance.

Amp Head

Guitar amp heads contain the main tone-shaping and power section of an amplifier, designed to be paired with a separate speaker cabinet. They let you choose different cabinets to suit your sound and setup, offering flexibility for home, studio or live use. If you want control over volume, tone and character without being tied to a single combo format, amp heads give you a modular way to build the rig that works best for you.
