Description

Introducing the PJD Origin Series, distilling the UK company’s no-nonsense approach to guitar building into affordable offset & single cut models with striking finishes & figured tops. Crafted from Mahogany and featuring a 5A Flamed Maple Veneer top, the PJD Origin Series offers the same thunderous midrange focus that’s often found on many of the most famed electric guitar designs. Its Roasted Maple neck feels lively and responsive, and its Rosewood fingerboard feels effortless under the fingers. Tone-wise, PJD have stuck to their guns on PAF-inspired classic tones that offer pristine cleans, but a bit of bite when pushed. In use, the PJD Origin Series guitars feel rock solid and stage-ready thanks to their locking tuners and fixed bridge. Bundled with a high-quality padded PJD gig bag, these guitars are ready for anything, whatever stage you are on in your guitar journey.

PJD Origin Humbuckers

Taking influence from PJD’s renowned British-made Standard humbuckers, the PJD Origin Humbuckers are built the old-fashioned way using Alnico V magnets and Enamel Coated pickup wire. They offer a vintage-inspired tone with increased output for a versatile electric guitar tone that excels with both clean and dirty sounds. Leigh from PJD explains that: “The PJD Origin Humbuckers have been voiced with our Standard Humbucker models in mind. The Bridge pickup has a medium output, allowing a good balance between clean and gain tone, whereas the Neck pickup is comfortably in the vintage PAF range, allowing for beautiful and vocal clean tones as well as juicy blues.”

PJD Guitars

Founded as a one-man operation in 2010 by Leigh Dovey, PJD has steadily grown into one of the largest British guitar manufacturers. Originally based in London from a small home workshop, Leigh inherited his love and passion for woodwork at an early age from his father, a prop maker for the Royal Opera House in Covent Gardens. 7 years later, the operation was moved to a larger facility in York where PJD has gone from strength to strength. Built using the finest materials and components and built with a level of care and attention that could only be achieved in this sort of workshop, PJD has grown a steady reputation as some of the finest guitars available. With standardised models and offerings to suit every type of player from their bare-bones Apprentice line-up to the full-bore Custom Shop range, there is a PJD for everyone.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Burst

A burst finish refers to a guitar finish where the colour gradually fades from a darker outer edge to a lighter centre. This technique highlights the natural grain of the wood while giving the instrument depth and visual character, making each guitar look slightly different.

Common on both electric and acoustic guitars, burst finishes range from classic sunburst styles to modern colour variations. They are popular because they combine a traditional look with a visually striking appearance that complements the shape and craftsmanship of the guitar.
