You just have to look at the Schecter Riot to know that it's a mean bass capable of some serious heavy tones. Featuring a swamp ash body with a burl top, a slim 24-fret neck, dual EMG pickups and a three-band active EQ, the Schecter Riot is a well-equipped tool for the modern bassist.

Body and Neck

The body of the Riot is constructed primarily from swamp ash but with the addition of a burl top. Swamp ash is a great wood for bass guitars as it's a lightweight material that'll put less strain on your back. This bass also has a bevelled top, while this may not seem significant it's a nice touch that allows your arm to rest naturally on the bass and gives it a more comfortable playing feel. The burl top creates a striking contrast with the swamp ash body and really completes the fierce aesthetic of the Riot.

The neck of this bass is a maple/walnut multi-ply with carbon fibre reinforcement rods for added stability. The ebony fingerboard has a smooth and natural feel to it and the 16" radius is great for faster runs across the fingerboard. You've also got 24 extra-jumbo frets which, of course, gives you more notes to play with. Everything about the neck of the Riot bass is designed for modern, versatile playing.

Pickups and Electronics

The Riot uses dual active EMG pickups that offer a great amount of tonal variety. This bass has an EMG 40PX-CS in the neck which provides an articulate high-end with a warm, punchy low-end and great dynamics. The EMG 40JX-CS in the bridge is a more passive-style J-bass pickup that's warmer and smoother than a traditional bridge J-pickup would be. When you combine these pickups with the onboard three-band active EQ you get an incredibly versatile bass where you can dial in a sound that's perfect for the genre you're playing.

Stuff About Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Stuff About Electric Bass Guitars

Electric bass guitars provide the low-end foundation that supports rhythm, harmony, and groove within a band. Designed for clarity, punch, and control, they translate string vibration into a focused, amplified signal that locks in with drums and drives the music forward. Different scale lengths, pickup configurations, and electronics influence feel and tone, from deep, rounded lows to tight, articulate attack. Whether used for simple supportive lines or more expressive playing, electric bass guitars are essential for shaping the feel and energy of a track.
