Description
The Sire V7 Vintage Alder-5 New Gen in Natural is a modern take on the classic 70s Jazz-style bass, created in collaboration with Marcus Miller. With its North American alder body, vintage-voiced Marcus Vintage-J pickups and powerful yet intuitive Heritage-3 preamp, it delivers everything from warm, plush fingerstyle tones to tight, articulate slap. Add Sire’s superb Edgeless neck design and you have a five-string workhorse that feels as good as it sounds, whether you are on stage, in the studio or rehearsing for hours on end.
Seven years on from the 2nd Generation, the New Gen V7 Vintage reflects extensive player feedback and represents Sire’s most refined version of their flagship bass yet. A more comfortable neck profile, upgraded control layout with active/passive switching and carefully voiced Alnico pickups all come together in a double cut design that captures the feel of a classic 70s instrument while offering the flexibility demanded by today’s players.
Vintage 70s Character with Modern Clarity
At the heart of the V7 Vintage New Gen is its ability to recreate the classic 70s Jazz-style bass sound associated with Marcus Miller. The North American alder body and Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickups with Formvar-style voicing provide a rich, expressive tone with a warm low end, defined mids and a sweet, singing top. Whether you are laying down smooth R&B lines or bright, percussive funk, the V7 Vintage responds with the kind of character and nuance that makes every note feel alive.
New Gen Neck for Superior Comfort
The Hard Maple neck features Sire’s signature Edgeless rolled fretboard edges, giving an exceptionally smooth, broken-in feel straight out of the box. Combined with a comfortable C-shape profile, 7.25-inch radius and natural bone nut, it offers excellent playability across the full 34-inch scale. Fast runs, position shifts and extended sessions all feel more relaxed and controlled, letting you focus on the music rather than fighting the instrument.
Flexible Active/Passive Electronics
The Marcus Heritage-3 preamp with middle frequency control gives you a huge range of usable tones. In active mode you can precisely shape your sound with dedicated bass, middle (plus sweepable mid frequency) and treble controls, while the pickup blender and dual volume/tone pot make it easy to balance and refine your output. A mini toggle lets you switch instantly to passive operation when you want a more traditional, straightforward response, making the V7 Vintage equally at home in modern and classic settings.
Reliable Hardware and Classic Styling
Premium open-gear tuners and the Marcus Miller Vintage-S bridge provide stable tuning and solid intonation, so your low B and higher strings stay tight and focused. The black block inlays, black binding and 3-ply black pickguard against the Natural finish give a timeless, stage-ready look that nods to iconic 70s instruments while remaining clean and contemporary.
