The Squier Classic Vibe series Jazz pays homage to the original versatile bass with a faithful recreation of old school aesthetics and sound.

Retro in style, but kitted out with modern hardware and custom electronics, this Jazz is the perfect bass to see you progress through your instrumental journey.

Body and Neck

The offset ergonomic design of a Jazz is legendary. A four-screw bolt-on neck connects the Poplar body and Maple neck – a relatively lightweight yet sturdy combination.

You’ll feel right at home on the tapered C-shaped neck profile with an easily playable 9.5” radius fingerboard.

Perfectly suited for the fretting hand and great for intricate styles like finger picking and slap bass.

Sound

You can use a Jazz bass for almost any musical genre. The Classic Vibe is equipped with two Fender-designed alnico single coil pickups to provide massive tone.

Select the bridge pickup to experiment with prominent mids, suited to modern music. While the middle position pickup provides full frequency tone for more classic sounds.

Hardware

A bone nut and four-saddle hardtail bridge will keep the Classic Vibe Jazz in tune and hold rock solid intonation.

It also features old school vintage style tuners, exclusive Squier headstock markings, nickel-plated hardware and a tinted gloss neck finish to get you in the swinging sixties’ mood.

Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Fretless Bass Guitars

Fretless bass guitars offer a smooth, expressive playing experience by removing frets, allowing notes to glide seamlessly into one another. This design gives greater control over pitch, vibrato, and dynamics, producing a warm, vocal-like tone that’s popular in jazz, fusion, ambient, and experimental music. Without frets to define each note, accuracy and touch become more important, encouraging a more expressive and intentional playing style. Fretless bass guitars reward careful technique with a unique, fluid sound that stands out in a mix.

Fretless

Fretless instruments have a smooth fingerboard without metal frets, allowing notes to be played by finger placement alone. This design enables continuous pitch variation, subtle slides, and expressive vibrato that are not possible on fretted instruments.

They are most commonly found on bass guitars but also exist in guitars and other stringed instruments. Fretless instruments are valued for their warm, vocal-like tone and expressive feel, making them popular in jazz, fusion, ambient, and experimental styles where nuance and articulation are important.
