Taylor’s “Baby” guitars have become a popular lineup thanks to the company bringing its reputation for design and quality to the world of affordable travel guitars. With its compact dreadnought body and surprisingly versatile sound, the BT1 is a great option for beginners just starting out or more experienced looking for something to take to the beach or sit round a campfire with.

Key Features

  • World Famous – One of the world’s most popular travel-size guitars
  • Solid Spruce Top – Solid spruce top supplies a clear, punchy tone
  • Included Gig Bag – Easy to transport with included gig bag
  • Compact – Compact body and neck are ideal for young players
  • Comfortable – Portable and comfortable without sacrificing tone

Compact Body Shape

The BT1 is a very compact model thanks to its 3/4 size dreadnought body and 22 3/4″ scale length. Beginners, especially younger players, will find the BT1 a comfortable guitar to learn on. You don’t have to worry about the body of the guitar feeling cumbersome and the short scale length means there’s less string tension and the frets are closer together, easing the strain on your fingers. More experienced players will appreciate the smaller size and its makes it easier to travel with and it opens up tones you just can’t get on a full-size guitar.

Laminated Tonewoods

The dreadnought is an all-rounder body shape that suits both strumming and fingerpicking alike; while the 3/4 size means you sacrifice volume and punchiness you still get that versatility. The back and sides of the guitar are made from layered, laminated sapele/poplar/walnut which has an attractive wood grain and caramel hue without the cost of solid wood. Using laminated woods also allows them to bend an arch in the back for increased strength that’ll hold up well to travelling. The top, however, is made from solid Sitka spruce, the industry standard for acoustic guitar tops. Spruce provides a balanced tone with a broad dynamic range making it a versatile tonewood suited to a wide range of styles.

Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars produce their sound naturally through the vibration of the strings and body, offering a direct and expressive playing experience. They come in a wide range of styles, including steel string and classical designs, each with its own feel and tonal character. Body shape, wood choice, and construction all influence warmth, projection, and balance, making acoustics suitable for everything from gentle fingerstyle to confident strumming. Whether used for songwriting, practice, or performance, acoustic guitars provide a simple, honest connection between the player and the music.

Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Steel String Acoustic Guitars

Steel string acoustic guitars are known for their bright, clear tone and strong projection, making them a popular choice for strumming, fingerpicking, and songwriting. Using steel strings gives them more tension and volume than classical guitars, resulting in a sound that cuts through well whether played solo or alongside other instruments. They come in a range of body shapes and sizes, each influencing balance, resonance, and comfort. From delicate fingerstyle passages to powerful rhythm playing, steel string acoustics are versatile instruments that respond well to dynamics and playing style, both at home and on stage.
