The Gibson SG Modern is a powerful, sleek guitar and is packed with contemporary features and flair for the next wave of inspired guitarists.

Body & Neck

Gibson describe the SG Modern as a hybrid SG and Les Paul. They’re not wrong, as it’s crafted with a pairing of Mahogany body and neck, as well as a figured Maple top that looks simply stunning.

It also has a dark, luxurious Ebony fretboard with 24 jumbo frets – a supremely modern appointment, great for fast playing. This is accentuated even further with its asymmetrical shape neck which feels natural on the playing hand as you move across the fingerboard.

Sound

The Burstbucker Rhythm and Lead capture the unique characteristics of the latest Gibson guitars. These are hot enough for the most modern of rock and metal, as well as offering vintage tones thanks to its two push/pull volume knobs.

This takes the signal from earlier in the magnet, which creates a vintage-associated sound. Push them back in and it tightens them up and raises the output.

Hardware

Gibson have taken a firmly forward step with hardware. The SG Modern is equipped with a combination of Graph Tech nut and Grover tuners for precise tuning. You won’t have to worry when you’re rocking out.

Stuff About Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Stuff About Gibson

Gibson has long stood as a symbol of American craftsmanship and musical heritage, shaping the sound of rock, blues, and jazz for over a century. Founded in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1902, Gibson became legendary with instruments like the Les Paul, SG, and ES series, each known for their rich sustain, premium tonewoods, and iconic designs. The brand’s pioneering use of humbucker pickups and carved maple tops created the warm, powerful sound that defines countless classic recordings. Played by greats such as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Angus Young, Gibson guitars continue to represent timeless quality, innovation, and a deep connection between player and instrument.

The Important stuff

Blueberry. Fade. Modern. SG — The Gibson SG (Solid Guitar) is a rock icon with attitude. Introduced in the early 1960s, it took the Les Paul’s power and gave it a sharper, lighter, double-cut design for faster access to higher frets. Its twin humbuckers deliver raw, biting tone and endless sustain — perfect for everything from blues to heavy rock. Played by legends like Angus Young and Tony Iommi, the SG proves that simplicity, style, and sheer power never go out of fashion..
