Death By Audio is a New York effects company known for hand-made, deliberately extreme pedals. Its range covers fuzz, distortion, overdrive, filters, modulation, delay, reverb and experimental devices, with catalogue staples such as Fuzz War, Crossover Fuzz, Rooms and Reverberation Machine. These are not designed to disappear politely into a mix: clipping, feedback and modulation can be part of the instrument. For conventional gain, compare noise floor and cleanup; for the stranger models, the useful question is how controllable the instability is under foot.
