Wah and filter pedals sweep or shape selected frequency ranges to create vocal-like movement, resonant peaks and expressive tone changes. Compare the sweep range, Q or resonance, control method, bypass, toe-down behaviour and whether the pedal is intended for guitar, bass or another source. Power, switching and the position of the pedal in the signal chain also affect the result.
