Description

Here’s what Coggins Audio say…

Owing to interest in finally making available the individual sections of the Dinosaural (R) Cogmeister (TM) as stand-alone pedals, I am pleased to announce the “Dan Solo” booster! It is identical to the final “Solo” section found on the Cogmeister (so existing demos apply).

It is an adjustable gain and bandwidth amplifier with a soft-clipping characteristic when driven hard, that centres around 1.8kHz – 2kHz upper midrange boost and at lower “Peak” control settings will give a lower level, broader frequency range overall boost tending toward a flat response when at minimum, followed by an adjustable output level control to set the overall boost-attenuation.

This is perfect for making single-string riff and solo lines more prominent vs. chord and rhythm work and makes the guitar stand out without cluttering the overall sound mix. When “Peak” is driven harder, with the “Level” control adjusted down (or not?!) to balance the level relative to bypass it functions as an overdrive that sounds uncannily reminiscent of a cranked Vox ® AC30 Brilliant Channel/Top Boost amp.

As seen from the image, they are built in a sparkling red finish die-cast enclosure with printed artwork and text and two rotary controls. Again, my thanks to Thorpy at Thorpy FX for his kind assistance especially with the graphics and for general encouragement.

Boost Pedals

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Boost

Boost pedals give your signal that extra push — perfect for cutting through the mix or driving your amp into sweet natural overdrive. Whether you want a clean volume lift for solos or a touch of grit to wake up your tone, a good boost adds clarity, punch, and presence without changing your core sound. Simple, powerful, and essential on any board, a boost pedal can turn a good tone into a great one with just one stomp.
