Description

DOD could’ve easily reissued the Digitech Bad Monkey and sold a barrel-load. Instead, they decided to make the cult classic pedal even more a-peel-ing! The DOD Badder Monkey keeps the beloved original circuit and adds two more: Behaved for smooth drive, and Badder for full-on grit. Blend them in parallel with the innovative Barrel control, or hit Troop mode to unleash all three at once. Want fuzz-like chaos? Flip the phase toggle for wild, out-of-phase textures. This isn’t just a remake — it’s an evolution!

You also get a reversible StagePlate with a pre-attached hook-and loop pad for easy pedalboard setup. Plus, “Cage-Free” extras like stickers, picks, a barrel keychain/pick holder and a Bad Monkey Brewery label.

Barrel (blend) control

The Barrel knob lets you mix any two of the three parallel overdrive circuits — Behaved, Bad and Badder — for endless tonal possibilities. Want creamy drive with a touch of grit? Blend Behaved and Bad. Need some monkey mayhem? Try Bad and Badder. You can even pair Behaved with Badder for a unique twist. This control features stop positions at Behaved, Bad and Badder, so you can easily lock in a single circuit for its pure tone whenever you want.

Mode toggle switch

Shape your sound further with three distinct phase modes:

  • Up (+): The Bad circuit runs in phase with Behaved and Badder when blended via the Barrel control — perfect for tight, harmonically rich tones.
  • Centre (Troop): All three circuits unite in full-phase harmony for massive distortion. In this mode, the Barrel control is bypassed for an all-in, no-compromise wall of sound.
  • Down (–): The Bad circuit flips out of phase with Behaved and Badder, creating phase cancellation for unique textures. Dial this in for experimental, fuzz-like tones.

StagePlate: It’s flippin’ cool!

The DOD Badder Monkey comes with a clever reversible StagePlate, giving you two mounting options in one:

  • Skid pad side: Ships with the rubber skid pad facing out for rock-solid grip on any surface.
  • Hook side: Flip the StagePlate to reveal the pre-installed hook pad, ready to lock onto pedalboard loop material for a secure setup.

Switching sides is simple. Just remove the four screws, flip the plate and reinstall.

Key Features

  • Three drive circuits in one: Why settle for one flavour when you can have three? From smooth and polite to downright filthy, these circuits give you everything from subtle drive to full-on distortion.
  • Barrel control: Choose a single circuit or mix two together for hundreds of unique combinations. It’s like having a custom overdrive lab at your feet.
  • Mode toggle switch: Flip the switch and go bananas with phase modes for even more tonal madness. Go in-phase for classic punch or out-of-phase for fuzzed-out textures.
  • Bananas knob: Whether you want a gentle push or screaming distortion, this knob controls the intensity of your gain.
  • Curiosity control: Sets your output level, perfect for balancing your tone when stacking with other pedals or cutting through the mix with loads of volume.
  • Set your “Mood”: Your global EQ in one knob. Dial in low-end grunt or high-end screech to suit any rig or genre. It’s simple, powerful and seriously fun.
  • Reversible StagePlate: Use the skid pad for grip on any surface, or flip to the hook side for instant pedalboard attachment. No extra parts, no hassle — just clever design.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Fuzz

Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.

Overdrive

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit, and natural compression to your tone, capturing the feel of a pushed tube amp. They respond dynamically to your playing, offering everything from a light bluesy crunch to full, saturated rock tones. Perfect for boosting solos or shaping your core sound, an overdrive pedal brings character and life to any setup. Whether you prefer vintage smoothness or modern bite, these pedals are essential for players who want expressive, touch-sensitive drive with plenty of personality.
