Description

As an electric guitarist in the ’80s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options available. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged-in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or dreaded extended sound checks.

The electro-acoustic guitar features a unique under-saddle piezo pickup, and the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer featured in the highly-acclaimed A Series range- this gives a natural tone and the mix-friendly sound guitarists crave. Although its style has evolved, the essence of the APX remains the same. Today, it boasts a more natural look, a deeper body for better bass response and greater volume, and a non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

APX Series electro-acoustic guitars are among the world’s best-selling instruments of their type. With its comfortable thin-line body, easily accessible upper frets, superb playability, and natural acoustic tone, the APX600M guitar is perfectly suited for live performance.

Electro-Acoustic

Electro-acoustic guitars are acoustic instruments fitted with built-in pickups or microphones that allow them to be amplified or connected directly to a PA system or amplifier. They retain the natural acoustic tone and feel of a traditional acoustic guitar while adding the convenience of onboard electronics.

They are commonly used for live performance and recording, especially in situations where consistent volume and clarity are needed. Electro-acoustic guitars often include controls for volume and tone, and sometimes built-in tuners, making them a practical choice for gigging musicians who want an acoustic sound with modern flexibility.
