Here’s what Yamaha say:

Pacifica® Professional guitars were designed for players seeking their own unique sounds. Meticulously crafted in Japan, the PACP12 delivers superb sound and playability, and its four new finish options are infused with sun-drenched Southern California vibes. Yamaha Acoustic Design technology provides a well-balanced response, while Reflectone™ pickups co-developed with Rupert Neve Designs produce clear and articulate tones. The HSS pickup configuration and 5-way selector, combined with a coil-split switch, offer countless variations. Additional features include a newly designed alder body, a slim C-shape maple neck with a compound-radius maple fingerboard and medium stainless-steel frets, and Gotoh locking tuners. Each guitar comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.

Made in Japan

Yamaha has drawn upon over six decades of guitar-making and engineering experience. The Pacifica Professional is the result of a rigorous R&D process, and the perfect blend of influence from their ‘90s LA Custom Shop and their HQ in Hamamatsu, Japan. The result is a precision instrument built to meet the needs of modern guitarists, designed and constructed in Japan – with a Certificate of Authenticity to prove it!

Pickups developed with Rupert Neve Designs

Yamaha has collaborated with audio industry leader Rupert Neve Designs to co-develop brand-new Reflectone pickups for the Pacifica Professional and Pacifica Standard Plus guitars. The Neve name has been present in the world’s highest-end recording studios since Rupert began manufacturing mixing consoles in the 1960s, setting the standard for modern audio professional equipment. For these pickups, clarity and balance was the priority; this involved tweaking details such as pole piece material, coil winding method, magnetization method, bobbin shape, and more. Pacifica Professional and Standard Plus feature HSS Reflectone pickup configurations with 5-way selector switches and coil-split functionality for the bridge humbucker. This versatile layout combined with Reflectone’s wide frequency response range means that you can truly craft your own unique sounds.
