Gibson celebrates those iconic 70s rockers with a brand new 70s Flying V model. The guitar features the classic styling and is equipped with powerful 70s Tribute humbucking pickups designed to be enjoyed and played loud! The Gibson 70s Flying V is back!

The 1970s were an incredible time for music and all the different musical directions it went! A new breed of rock guitarists in that time were discovering the charms of the Flying V models, and how much it rocks.

The Flying V is built with a bound Rosewood fingerboard, SlimTaper neck, and a pair of uncovered 70s Tribute humbuckers hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors, this Flying V is set to nail all of the classic tones of the era. The iconic body shape and matching headstock, silver reflector knobs, and chrome hardware make this guitar ready to rock any arena stage.

Key Features

  • 70s Tribute Humbucking Pickups – The Gibson 70s Tribute pickups are built upon the “hotter” sounding pickups that Gibson released in the mid-70s. With lots of warm tone with an increased output, these pickups strike the amplifier with more force, and a stronger signal level so it can be driven into powerful overdrive easier, making the 70s Tribute perfect to nail the tones for drop tunings and hard rock.
  • Slim Taper Neck – Varying in thickness only about a tenth of an inch from the first fret out to the twelfth, the “slim-taper” neck is designed to promote high-speed playing.
  • Gibson Flying V Body Shape – Stand out from the crowd with such an iconic rock guitar!

Stuff About Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.
