Joe Satriani is one of the world's most influential guitar virtuosos. Emerging in the '80s as the leading instrumental rock guitarist, Satriani's game-changing technical proficiency and incredible ear for tasteful melody-writing makes him a true, living guitar legend.

Throughout his career, the New York-born musician has rarely been seen wielding anything other than an Ibanez guitar. To honour the world-renowned Joe Satriani Signature Series, the Ibanez R&D team worked closely with Joe to develop a finish that was worthy of his approval. Each and every JS2GD will have passed stringent Ibanez quality control standards, however due to the unique nature of this striking finish, some minor imperfections may be expected and are considered normal.

Key Features

  • Alder Body — Timeless tonewood choice synonymous with bolt-on electric guitars. Provides a balanced tonal foundation for the pickups, with tight lows, bold mids and singing highs.
  • 1-Piece Maple Neck — Gives the guitar rigidity and a snappy note response with a bright tonal character.
  • Rosewood Fingerboard — Dark and luxurious material offers a silky touch beneath the fingers.
  • Jescar EVOgold Frets with Prestige Edge Treatment — Gorgeously smooth frets give enough control for wide vibrato and pitch-perfect string bends. Enhanced with Ibanez's Prestige edge treatment for superb playability.
  • Edge Tremolo with Ultralite Arm — Stays in tune no matter how extreme your divebombs or flutters might be! 'Ultralite' vibrato arm makes pitch control feel effortless; utilising carbon graphite for the grip.
  • DiMarzio Joe Satriani Signature Pickups — The DiMarzio Satch Track is Joe's first single-coil size signature pickup, installed in the neck and middle positions on the JS2GD. Combined with the FRED humbucker, they offer a focused sound and great overall versatility.
  • Pickup On/Off Switches & Coil-Tap Tone Knob — Provides multiple pickup combinations, giving you a wide tonal palette.
  • High-Pass Filter Volume Control — Push/pull feature maintains the guitar’s high frequencies at low volumes and delivers more uniform tone from 1 to 10.

Stuff About Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Stuff About Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Stuff About Solid Body Electric Guitars

Solid body electric guitars are built from a solid piece or pieces of wood, giving them excellent sustain, stability, and resistance to feedback at higher volumes. This construction makes them well suited to amplified playing across a wide range of styles, from clean and articulate tones to heavy, high-gain sounds. Their design allows pickups and hardware to play a major role in shaping tone, while the solid body provides a consistent, reliable feel. Solid body electric guitars are valued for their durability, versatility, and ability to perform confidently on stage and in the studio.
