Boasting superior craftsmanship, top-tier tonewoods and a bevvy of design innovations, the Gold Label 817e introduces the world to a new kind of Taylor sound. This model features Taylor’s new Grand Specific body shape, a classic body shape with increased depth, ensuring impressive power with a heritage-inspired warmth and richness that will entice traditionalists and contemporary ears alike.

Key Features

  • Grand Pacific – This round-shoulder dreadnought delivers a new flavour of warm, rich Taylor tone.
  • Torrefied Body Top – Taylor’s torrefying (roasting) process, in essence, seasons the wood to vintage perfection. With additional overtones and resonance as well as a played-in warmth that you’d only expect to find on a guitar that’s at least 30 years old.
  • Honduran Rosewood – Denser in comparison to the typical Rosewood used in guitar making, Honduran Rosewood produces a uniquely smooth and resonant tone with pronounced highs and warm lows.
  • LR Baggs Element VTC Electronics – The onboard pickup and preamp give a superior warmth and natural balance of tone, heightening the overall sound.
  • Action Control Neck – The Taylor Action Control Neck combines the superior tone of a long-tenon joint with their previous neck micro-adjustability, resulting in a neck with enhanced acoustic tone and resonance, along with effortless adjustability.

Grand Pacific Body Design

The modifications to the normal guitar design add more low-end power and projection along with an exceptionally warm, round tone profile accented by rosewood’s signature blooming overtones and a dash of played-in sweetness thanks to the specially roasted top. Complementing that heritage sound is our new long-tenon Action Control Neck, which offers enhanced coupling between the neck and body to produce more low-end warmth plus unprecedented adjustability—simply turn the interior neck bolt through the soundhole to dial in the perfect action (string height) for your playing style.

This Grand Pacific guitar sports a fresh suite of visual appointments with a new Continental inlay suite, a new pickguard design, grained Ivoroid trim, antique chrome Gotoh 510 tuners with ebony buttons, bone bridge pins, and a gloss-finished body. It ships with LR Baggs Element VTC electronics and a deluxe hardshell case with a British Cocoa exterior.

V-Class Bracing

Taylor’s revolutionary V-shaped bracing pattern allows the soundboard of the guitar to resonate and flex naturally without any of the resistance found in more traditional bracing patterns. The guitar becomes louder and fuller with increased sustain and the notes along the fingerboard intonate better and generally sound more in tune with each other. The carefully thought-out design strikes the perfect balance of enough stiffness to remain stable and the perfect amount of flex for a powerful and harmonically rich sound.

L.R. Baggs Element VTC Electronics

Multi-band compression has long been a secret of mastering rooms worldwide to unlock the warmth and natural dynamics of recorded instruments. The Element VTC’s all-discrete, Class A preamp leverages this studio elixir with a proprietary analog compressor that operates below 400Hz. The compressor is tuned to reflect the actual dynamics of the acoustic guitar, creating in live performance the superior warmth and natural balance of tone achieved in professionally studio-mastered sound. Includes soundhole-mounted volume and treble tone controls.
