We have up for sale from our longtime guitar luthier who has since retired a Players Grade Martin D-35 from 1970.
All in all a cool old Martin acoustic with lots of mojo and not at a collectors price point either.
This guitar has had lots of work done to it during it’s life and we have best described all of the work carried out which was all done here by Gavin before he retired after 30 years of service.
Neck reset, re-fretted, new neck binding, new pickguard, new bone nut and saddle 2021. The original pickguard is in the case but it has shrunk significantly.
In the late 60s/early70s, Martin made an unknown number of guitars (some have estimated around 1000) with the bridge positioned too far forward and this is one of them. The saddle slot was filled and re-cut c. 2010 to correct the intonation. I thought about moving the bridge but decided against that because some think the positioning error makes them more collectible.
The pickup is K&K Pure Mini, installed in 2021 to replace the knackered piezo system which was previously fitted.
The finish is original except for the tinted lacquer on the new binding.
