Fender’s latest addition to their popular Bassbreaker range, the 30R, is a mash-up of the Bassbreaker 15 and 18/30 models. Fender have taken the reverb and high-gain capabilities that made the 15 popular and put it in a 30-watt, two channel amp. With great clean tones and impressive higher gain sounds that you usually don’t expect with Fender, the Bassbreaker 30R is a true workhorse amp.

Sounds

The ethos of the Bassbreaker line is essentially imagining what a classic Fender amp would sound like if, back in the 60s, the company catered to rock players rather country and blues players. At the heart of this amp are four EL84 power amp tubes. EL84s are known for their classic “British” sound with plenty of warmth and midrange emphasis and they break up easily providing organic overdrive tones. This amp also features a bright switch for injecting a little more high-end into the sound.

Twin-Channel

The Bassbreaker 30R features two separate channels, one based on the Bassbreaker 15 and the other on the 18/30. With tone controls for each of the two channels you can dial in distinct sounds for each. With a hi-gain boost on channel 2 you can go from clean to crunch, to heavy distortion in just couple presses of the footswitch.

Stage and Studio Ready

With 30-watts and a single 12” speaker the Bassbreaker 30R is great for gigging or studio use. It’s loud enough for small-to-mid size gigs but not so loud that it’d be unusable in the studio and you can use the XLR line out with speaker emulation to mute the speaker and record directly. There’s also an on-board FX loop if you prefer to run some of your pedals between the pre-amp and power sections of the amp.

Here's what Fender say about the Bassbreaker 30R

Ripping a page from the supercharged high-gain distortion and spacious reverb of the popular Bassbreaker™ 15, the 30-watt Bassbreaker 30R adds full channel switching capability to allow for precise, individual control over your clean and distorted tones—while the built-in effects loop offers yet another dose of custom-tailored personality to your sound. Boasting a single 12” Celestion® V-Type speaker, this easily portable combo amp packs quite the punch of distinctively crunchy Bassbreaker tone. Let the EL84 tubes sparkle with nuanced clean tone, incinerate a path of destruction with fiery midrange distortion—or anything in between—with uncanny responsiveness to pick attack and control settings from mid- to high-gain. On stage or in the studio, the raw power is in your hands.
