The Focus Fuzz Deluxe brings back the original, sought-after Focus Fuzz circuit alongside a whole new bag of tricks.

Featuring an NOS germanium transistor, this golden gain machine covers the entire spectrum from gritty boost through to full-on fuzz, with or without its unique on-board octave effect.

3-Modes

  • Boost – an almost-clean boost with added grit when you dig in
  • Drive – an organic, amp-like overdrive, very dynamic and uncompressed
  • Fuzz – the original Focus Fuzz circuit, ranging from light distortion to heavy fuzz

On top of this, the footswitchable ‘Overtone’ effect can be used across all three modes. Overtone blends an analogue octave-up together with some of the full-range signal, giving you classic octave sounds while retaining low-end and sustain.

In true Focus Fuzz fashion, it’s easy to dial in, loves both humbuckers and single-coils and it definitely won’t get lost in the mix!

Deluxe

The original Focus Fuzz was designed to deliver all the flavour of vintage fuzz with none of the fuss. Limited to just 250 units because of its germanium transistor, this pedal sold out in a matter of days back in 2023. An all-silicon version followed, offering a darker, smoother take on this circuit, but we nevertheless received many requests to reissue the original.

But we didn’t want to do that without expanding on it and, in the Deluxe version, we’ve added two new circuits that capitalise on the unique Focus control – an overdrive mode for lighter gain sounds and a textured, almost-clean boost that you may want to leave on all the time.

Lots of people also asked us for an octave fuzz. The Deluxe’s ‘Overtone’ effect is octave fuzz done the Focus Fuzz way. By blending an analogue octave-up with some of the full-range signal, we’ve managed to create a more user-friendly and well-behaved rendition of those classic octave sounds.

Like its predecessor, the Focus Fuzz Deluxe uses a combination of silicon transistor, germanium transistor and diode clipping to generate its range of overdrive, distortion and fuzz textures. The pedal is built by hand in Cambridge, UK. It uses high-quality through-hole parts including an NOS (new old stock) Soviet-era germanium transistor.

Controls

The Focus knob works by adding more gain while simultaneously emphasising the mid-range and higher frequencies. Turn anti-clockwise for a mellower, fuller sound. Turn clockwise for more bite, cut-through and aggression

In BOOST and DRIVE modes, the Focus knob acts as a combined gain and presence control. In FUZZ mode, it provides a treble-boosted kick into the front of the fuzz.

In FUZZ mode, the Fuzz knob lets you increase the amount of saturation and sustain in the pedal’s silicon-germanium hybrid output section. This control simultaneously adjusts gain and transistor bias, yielding great sounds throughout the range of the control, not just at maximum.

Available across all three modes, the OVERTONE footswitch combines a transistor-based analogue octave-up effect with some of the full-range signal. It’s designed to work across all three modes, offering vintage octave sounds without sacrificing low end and sustain.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Fuzz

Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.

FX

FX, or effects, are guitar pedals and processors used to shape, enhance, or completely transform your sound. They can add anything from subtle colour and warmth to dramatic textures, ambience, and movement, allowing players to craft a tone that suits their style, genre, and playing approach.

Whether used individually or chained together, FX pedals give control over dynamics, distortion, modulation, delay, reverb, and more. From simple analogue designs to advanced digital units, effects are a core part of modern guitar setups, helping players create distinctive and expressive sounds.
