The TC Electronic AmpWorx High-Gain Series Dual Wreck is a dual-channel guitar preamp pedal. It faithfully recreates the heavy sound of an iconic American valve amplifer from the '90s, but in a convenient and compact stompbox with independent channel controls, a foot-switchable pre/post boost, an official Celestion cab sim IR, and dedicated DI/headphone outputs.

The original tube-driven amp that the Dual Wreck is based on is synonymous with American hard rock and metal, and has been used by some of the biggest artists from those genres — including Metallica's James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, Devin Townsend, Mark Tremonti and countless others. Fizzy, saturated, and capable of delivering thunderous low-end punch, the distinctive "Dual Rec" tone has been used to great effect on hundreds of influential records. And now, you can get your hands — and feet — on this huge guitar sound but in a far more portable package, and at an affordable price-point to boot!

Key Features

  • Faithfully recreates the tone, touch and feel of the legendary "Revision G" Dual Rectifier tube amp from 1995.
  • Two channels with independent gain, volume and EQ controls. Green channel (clean rhythm) ranges from pristine cleans through to edgy blues tones, while the red channel (lead) delivers huge levels of gain for high-octane rock, classic shred and '90s metal tones.
  • Integrated booster activates 5 dB of boost at the kick of a footswitch with pre/post option on the back panel.
  • The pre boost is dialled in to drive the amp model harder, and adds a distinct mid hump like a classic "green" overdrive pedal. The post boost setting adds volume without changing your core sound — it just makes it louder!
  • Dedicated DI output, equipped with an official Celestion 4×12" V30 cab sim IR, turns your pedalboard into a gig-ready rig that you can plug directly into a PA system, or an audio interface for recording.
  • Headphone output equipped with the very same Celestion cab sim IR, for huge tube amp tones straight to your ears. No more annoying the neighbours!
  • Set-it-and-forget-it master presence control on the rear panel lets you tailor the preamp and compensate for darker or brighter rigs and rooms.
  • An optional bypass mode can be activated by pressing the 'Boost' and 'Channel' footswitches at the same time. This allows you to punch the pedal in whenever you want, if you're using it like a standard stompbox into a guitar amp.
  • Groundbreaking TC AmpWorx modelling technology provides low-latency, huge dynamic range and feels just like the real deal.
  • Perfect, pedalboard-friendly pedal platform takes overdrives like a champ!
  • Designed and engineered in Denmark.

More info about this Product

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Preamp Pedals

Preamp pedals are designed to shape and boost a guitar’s core tone, often acting as the front end of an amplifier or as a complete amp-style sound on a pedalboard. They can add clean gain, warmth, EQ control, or amp-like drive, and are commonly used to improve signal strength, push an amp harder, or run directly into a power amp or recording interface. Understanding output level, EQ controls and how they interact with other pedals helps players use preamp pedals effectively in both live and studio setups.

Chorus

Chorus is a modulation effect that thickens and widens a sound by duplicating the signal, slightly detuning it, and modulating its pitch over time. This creates the impression of multiple instruments playing together, resulting in a rich, shimmering, and spacious tone.

It is commonly used on guitar, bass, and keyboards to add movement and depth, working especially well with clean or lightly driven sounds. Chorus became strongly associated with 1980s music but remains widely used across pop, rock, ambient, and modern styles for its ability to make a sound feel fuller and more animated.

Dual

Dual describes gear designed with two of the same or complementary features working together, such as dual channels, dual pickups, or dual effects. This allows greater flexibility and tonal range, letting players switch or blend between sounds for different styles, settings, or playing dynamics without changing their setup.

preamp

A preamp is a stage in the signal chain that boosts the guitar’s signal and shapes its core tone before it reaches the power amp or recording interface. Preamp pedals and units can add gain, EQ, and character, helping define clarity, warmth, and drive while forming the foundation of a player’s overall sound.
